How to give yourself a luxurious weed manicure on a budget
Every once in awhile, it’s nice to go against the grain, especially if you thrive in a bit of extra attention, and what better way to display your love for the plant than by showing off some fancy weed nails? Unfortunately, those fancy designs that we all love so much can cost a fortune at the salon, but if you want to look smashing on a budget, then you can do this design yourself at home. Whether you have naked nails, or pre-existing gel nails or acrylic nails, you can get fancy with little to no effort at all, and only a handful of affordable products, you might have on hand.
You will need:
- 1 gram cannabis
- 1 gram kief
- 1 jar clear nail polish
- 1 jar nail sealer
- 1 jar white nail polish (optional for effect)
- Weed grinder
- Nail file
- Tape

Start by visually assessing what you’ve got to work with. If you have gel nails, then it’s probably a color you want to show off. If you do want to add a bright, white addition, then add tape to the base of your nails leaving the tip exposed in preparation for some white paint.

Now place a thin, even coat of white nail polish onto the exposed tips and wait for at least 2-5 minutes for it to dry. Once it has set, add a second coat and repeat the wait time, then move on to the next step.

Moving onto the clear is where most of us get a sigh of relief, as it really doesn’t matter how messy it gets, the rest from here on out is ‘easy peasy’. Now, apply a thin coat of clear polish on all the nails, including over the freshly done white tips. This will help to protect them from wear and tear.
Grind up the cannabis, and get the kief handy, as it’s time to start decorating. There is no ideal way to do this, but it’s best to add the kief to the white tips to amplify the effect. The finer kief will be lighter and smaller, so think about the look you want to achieve. Add a thick layer of clear coat to only one nail at a time, and decorate it with the pot products by dipping, sprinkling, or whatever other way you can think of.
Repeat step 4 until all your fingernails have a nice layer of cannabis on top. Don’t worry if it isn’t smooth, as that’s the next thing we are going to work out.
Once all your nails are on point and full of some bright all-natural greens, it’s time to get out the nail file. Find the finest side and gently brush it flat against the grind, back and forth to smooth out the surface. Be careful and go slow, especially in the kief areas, as each stroke will remove some of the color that was just added, but it’s necessary for a chic finish.
Now your weed nails are ready to be sealed which should be done with a clear topcoat to give some extra protection which will help them to last longer. One or two coats should be enough that once they are dry, they will feel smooth to the touch, which is all that is needed.
