Many people have become interested in the benefits of the marijuana plant since it’s legalization. There are many health and recreational benefits of cannabis, and research into two of the main compounds in marijuana, CBD and THC have shown great possibility in the prospects of the plant. CBD has been a major topic in the media lately, and while the cannabis industry is growing, the market for CBD related products is bigger than most people realize. CBD and THC products are in demand, but there is still a concern about the effect of THC on a person. Do you know the effects of THC and how CBD can counteract its effects?

CBD vs THC

THC and CBD are two of the most popular cannabinoids that are found in cannabis, and there are many health benefits associated with CBD and THC. THC has psychoactive effects, while CBD does not, which means that THC will get a person ‘high’ when consumed but CBD will not. Both cannabinoids are an attractive therapeutic option but for different purposes.

For recreational purposes, THC is more preferred than CBD due to its psychoactive effects. Some people consume cannabis to get a ‘high,' intense feeling that somehow helps them to escape their darkest feelings. There are different concentration levels of THC and CBD, depending on the strain of cannabis. Recreational consumers tend to prefer cannabis strains that have a high concentration of THC.THC has similar medical benefits like CBD, such as pain relief. However, many medical patients or just persons who use cannabis for health reasons, tend to prefer to use CBD because it is non-psychoactive yet still medically beneficial.

CBD can alleviate the effects of THC

The psychoactive effects of THC may be unwanted, which causes us to question whether or not the effects of THC can be controlled. We know that CBD has a mild effect because of its interaction with CB1 and CB2 receptors in the brain. However, THC binds with these receptors and stimulate certain reactions.

Genetica

You are likely wondering how CBD can control the effect of THC. There are also other side effects of THC that scientists have done tests on in an attempt to counter the adverse reactions such as anxiety and paranoia. Researchers have now realized that the use of CBD along with THC can cause an even balance of effects since CBD can counteract some of the effect’s THC produces.

The entourage effect

That is the result of what is called the entourage effect. With the entourage effect, CBD complements the benefits of THC while counteracting the negative sensations. In the liver, CBD helps to reduce the breakdown of THC, and as a result, the benefits of THC last for a longer period with less intensity.

It is important for consumers to know that some of the negative effects of THC can be relieved by CBD.  One of the side effects of CBD is the relief of anxiety, but anxiety can be caused by THC. So, both CBD and THC are interconnected and beneficial to each other. Although the method of consumption and the concentration has a vital role to play as well, smoking or vaping strains that are high in CBD can help to alleviate anxiety symptoms faster. So far, the research is inconclusive, and more clinical trials are required to unravel the unknown possibilities of CBD effects on THC's reaction.
