When components of the marijuana plant, also referred to as cannabinoids are used together, the effects are more powerful and effective than when used singularly. Terpenes found in the marijuana plant produce the smell and are also involved in what is known as the entourage effect.

When the components that are in the marijuana plant interact with the human body, they create a stronger effect than when they work alone.

A high amount of THC in a strain may be used for controlling nausea and aid in stimulating your appetite; the problem may be instances of paranoia from the effects of the THC. When CBD is combined with THC, it helps decrease some of the negative side-effects of the THC.

A simple way of explaining the entourage effect could be using the combination of the horse and carriage. Both are useful commodities, but when hooked up together, a much more enjoyable journey is experienced.

Some of the effects that scientist has studied involve the combination of CBD and THC when treating cancer patients for the pain. Patients noticed an increase in pain relief when both cannabinoids were used, providing a synergetic effect.

CBD is used effectively to diminish the unwanted side-effects from THC like anxiety and cognitive impairment and paranoia.

Terpenes, also part of the marijuana plant, are involved in the entourage effect. It is suggested that terpenes help increase the ability of marijuana to treat the discomfort of inflammation, pain, epilepsy, and cancer.

Each different strain of the marijuana plant can produce a different effect; the entourage effect is partially responsible for that. This may explain why what works for you may not work for others; no two strains are alike and careful choosing of the correct THC product is necessary for achieving optimal benefits.

Studies are on-going to see if the entourage effect is different, depending on the method of consumption, vaping, eaten, or smoked to name a few methods. There are studies from Brazil citing that the whole-plant CBD extracts were more beneficial and effective in treating epilepsy than when pure CBD extracts were utilized.

Moving forward, the more studying that scientist conduct on how terpenes and cannabinoids work, alone or together will paint a clearer picture of the entourage effect that the marijuana plant can deliver. This, in turn, will be beneficial in determining the most beneficial combinations of the components of the marijuana plant in treating medicinal issues that need individual consideration.

The entourage effect is as individual as each person’s reaction to the many THC products on the market today. All marijuana strains have different qualities that are welcomed in the medicinal and recreational field. The synergy or combination of one or more of the many cannabinoids in the marijuana plant working together indicates that the whole plant will produce far more enjoyable and beneficial effects than the sum of its part.

There are still many studies needed to explain the entourage effects benefits. We do know that when choosing a marijuana plant, paying attention to the composition of the plant could be the key to and enjoyable psycho-active ride that is modulated by the CBD addition.
