If you've got a picky kitty who could use a boost from CBD, then you've come to just the right place because we've got a fantastic feline approved recipe that is sure to get your pet's attention. It uses wholesome all-natural ingredients with absolutely no preservatives, or unhealthy additives to worry about, making it perfect for cats on a diet and those who could still use a few extra pounds.

Cat treats are also expensive, especially if you've got more than one cat to please, and CBD cat treats are an average of 5-10 times more expensive than the regular variety, adding up to an unnecessary hefty bill each month. You can save most of that money and not worry about secret ingredients that might do your kitty harm while still getting all of the incredible benefits of CBD.

The benefits of CBD cat treats

We know all about the many benefits of CBD for humans, but it wasn't until relatively recently that the fad of using this cannabinoid for cats caught on, so we don't have a tonne of research to prove it's effectiveness. However, we do have a few promising studies that seem to verify that our furry friends can benefit from a dose of CBD in the very same way that we do. Thanks to their endocannabinoid system, which processes and interacts with cannabinoids similarly as ours do.

Whether your cat has arthritis, a recent injury, chronic pain, behavioural issues, mental health issues such as depression or anxiety, or you just want to do the best that you can to keep them healthy, CBD can help either alone or in conjunction with other medications that are prescribed by a vet. Just remember that if your cat is already on medications or diagnosed with a health condition, it's best to run the use of CBD cat treats by your vet first, just to make sure they won't negatively interact with the prescription.

How to make CBD cat treats

Making CBD cat treats is easy, and this particular recipe can even be watered down and multiplied so that it can be used as a homemade cat food full time because the ingredients are an excellent base for a feline diet. Plus, they smell and taste great, so your furry friend will thank you for all of the extra efforts, making the task completely worth it in the end, even if you don't achieve the health results that you seek from the CBD.

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork
  • Cookie sheet

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Add all of the listed ingredients to a large mixing bowl, and use a form to mix and press them together, ensuring that the meat and potato pieces are broken into tiny bite-sized chunks.

  3. By this point, the dough should feel a whole lot like playdoh, so if yours isn't that malleable, then you might need to add a bit more coconut oil until it reaches a consistency that is easy to shape and work with.

  4. Use your hands to roll the dough into cat treat size balls or shapes, but make sure that you keep all of the bits approximately the same size.

  5. Place the cat treat dough bits onto a cookie sheet and then bake them in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until they turn a nice golden brown colour.

Allow the treats to cool entirely before offering them to your cat.

Storage

Make sure to store your CBD cat treats in an airtight container at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and they will stay fresh that way for up to one whole month.
