While many people have successfully treated and managed their adverse symptoms using CBD, most people don’t think about the benefits their furry companion could obtain from ingesting CBD. Cannabis dog treats are not made with the intention of getting an animal high and contain minimal amounts of THC which is the active chemical that induces the psychoactive effects from a cannabis plant. Both felines and canines can utilize the anti-inflammatory properties that are most beneficial in managing symptoms like pain and anxiety.

CBD dog treats for anxiety

This dog CBD treats recipe has been specifically designed to aid in managing the uncomfortable symptoms of a pet who suffers from various forms of anxiety or depression.

  • 2 teaspoons of CBD oil
  • 1 ½ tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 cup of smooth peanut butter
  • ½ cup of honey
  • 2 cups of chicken or beef broth
  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups of all-purpose white flour
  • Oven
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • 1 large cutting board or counter top
  • 2 inch or smaller cookie cutters
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie sheet

Step 1 - Preheat your oven to 345F.

Step 2 - Mix peanut butter, CBD oil, broth, coconut oil, and honey in a large bowl and whisk the ingredients together until evenly blended.

Step 3 - In a second bowl combine both white and whole wheat flour with the rolled oats.

Step 4 - Pour the liquid batter into the flour/oat mixture and stir until it reaches an even consistency and color.

Step 5 - Dust a cutting board or clean counter with flour. Then separate the dough by half and roll one half of it at a time on the floured surface approximately ½-¼ inch thick.

Step 6 - Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Step 7 - Use cookie cutters to cut out cookies placing each one onto the parchment paper with breathing room of one each between each cookie.

Step 8 - Once a cookie sheet is full, it will need to bake for 15 minutes.

Step 9 - Put scraps from the last batch into the new dough and mix it before rolling and beginning cutting again. This recipe should make 120 biscuits so may require 2-3 separate cookie sheets to do all at once.

Step 10 - Allow time to cool and then they are ready for your doggie to taste test.

Recommended dosing for this recipe for anxiety is for a medium to large breed dog one cookie three times a day spaced at least 4-6 hours apart. For a smaller dog half of a cookie spaced by 4-6 hours apart.
