Quitting vaping is no easy task. Some equate the challenge to quitting cigarettes which are full of nicotine and other addictive additives, and though cannabis doesn’t contain any of that, it’s still really hard to stop vaping it. Luckily, we’ve got a list of tips and tricks on how to quit vaping that can help to make the process just a little bit easier, which should help to improve your chance of success!

1. Get in the right mindset

The first step to quitting vaping is deciding that it’s something you really want to accomplish because, without the drive to maintain a planned course of action, you’re not likely to get very far. Do it for you, for your kids, for your health, or for some other personal reason that means something to you, and then you’ll be able to remind yourself why you made this decision every single day.

2. Garner support

If you really want to stop vaping, then it will help if you can rally the support of your most important people, generally those who are most influential due to the amount of time you spend around them. This is going to be a tough journey, and you’ll need to know who you can count on to make concessions, like vaping away from you and encouraging you to stay on track. These bonds can be pertinent to kicking the habit for good, especially during moments of weakness when you feel like giving up your goal.

3. Cut back slowly

A lot of people decide suddenly one day that they want to quit vaping, which leads to an abrupt halt to their use of cannabis, a move that can be devastating to both the body and mind, especially if you're someone that has come to rely on the soothing relief it has to offer. It’s a shock to the system that can leave you feeling all of the absolute worst symptoms of withdrawal. It might be hard to sleep or to build up a healthy appetite, and it could trigger migraines, mood swings, or nausea, none of which are conducive to a healthy state of being. Instead, it may be easier to slowly wean off of the effects by eliminating the amount of vaping you do by a little each day.

4. Find suitable replacements

Vaping weed is fast and effective, and if you’re looking at quitting then smoking, the only other truly comparable alternative is off the table too, but that doesn’t mean you have to suffer without feeling good. You could consider edibles which come in so many options these days that you’ll never run out of new things to try or start microdosing with oil or tincture to keep the adverse effect at bay without the more intense euphoric side of things as you ease yourself into a new normal. It’s not going to be the same, but it could help to take the edge off.

5. Coping techniques

When things get hard, it really helps to have a list of coping techniques to distract you. It could be a friend you call just to chat about life, breathing exercises that reduce built-up tension and anxiety, or it could be a long list of healthy snacks to munch on. Maybe a jog clears your mind, or a quick drive through the country, or maybe you’d prefer to get treated to a night on the town instead. Regardless of what it is (as long as it’s healthy, of course), it might be the key to making it through the ups and downs, and there are about to be quite a few of them. So, get ahead of the game, and be prepared.

Don’t give up!

Quitting vaping is no easy thing to accomplish, even if it’s just for a short while, so it's important to take pride in the victories while gliding past the defeats. There might be moments of weakness, and you may even fall off the wagon completely for a little while, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do this, it just shows that you haven't gone about it the right way yet. Be patient, persistent, and stay motivated to always do better for the sake of tomorrow.
