How marijuana terpenes can be used to improve health and wellness

Oh, the lovely aroma of marijuana terpenes! Smell (or olfaction) is one of our seven senses and scents can have a strong effect on mind body and soul, often offering a sense of well being. We have just started to understand the therapeutic greatness of cannabis and all its healing compounds.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes, AKA terpenoids or terps, are the phytochemicals taken from cannabis plants. Terpenes are the reason cannabis plants smell so amazing! Some cannabis plants have an array of terpenes, and others have one dominant terpene. Note terpenes will not get you high. The essential oils taken from the marijuana plant are safe for people of all ages when used correctly. There are over one hundred different terpenes. The amazing thing is their effect on our bodies.

They can affect mood and relaxation. Myrcene is the terpene that gives the relaxing effect of Indica strains. Each strain of marijuana has its own unique set of terpenes. We can find terpenes throughout nature. Like walking through a park and getting a wafting scent of lilac and all of a sudden, a warm and fuzzy feeling arises in your body. That sensation is a terpene that just affected your mood, all given to you from mother nature. Terpenes are the fruit of the earth, and terpenoids have some miraculous healing properties.

  • Alpha-Pinene- Has a great pine smell. This terpene supports alertness and memory.
  • Beta-caryophyllene- Has a spicy smell and helps alleviate stress.
  • Bisabolol- Has a coconut nutty and fruity aroma and helps with inflammation.
  • Humulene- May, remind you of a craft beer, as humulene is known to be found in hops, basil coriander, and cloves.
  • Limonene - Has sweet citrus scent can help elevate mood and alleviate stress.
  • Linalool - Has a lovely floral woody smell and helps alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression.
  • Myrcene - Has an earthlike odor and supports relaxation.
  • Terpinolene - Have a smoky smell of wood and pine.

How to use terpenes?

Aromatherapy is a great wellness tool! You can benefit from adding terpenes to candles to induce relaxation or to give an energizing effect. Terpenes can also be added to an oil diffuser to fill your home and or office with a beautiful scent.

1. Baking
Adding terpenes to the toppings of your pastry is a lovely way to enhance the flavor of your favorite desserts will giving you a sense of well being. Oh, my pie just got upgraded!

2. Cannabis
If your weed is lacking flavor, you can add a few drops for some amazing flavourful buds. add one or two drops to some paper towel place it in your jar of bud and let the terpenes sit for 24 hrs this will give lots of tasty flavors

3. CBD
Enhance your CBD products with terpenes and add more flavor as CBDis, sometimes flavorless.no head high but adding more healing properties.

4. Cocktails
Terpenes can be added to your favorite cocktail to give some flavor and a fun way to do some mixology. Maby try to flavor a Ceasar and see the fantastic taste you can achieve.

5. Joints
Adding a small dose of terpenes to the filter of your joints can be a great smoking experience. Unbleached papers should be used for an excellent clean session.

6. Oils
Turn your everyday olive oil into a lovely aromatic massage tool! Terpenoids can also be added to bathwater to create a beautiful atmosphere leaving the skin feeling nourished while washing the days to stress away.

7. Pipe water
Its strongly suggested that you clean your pipe or bong before adding terpenes. Adding just a few drops can add lots of flavors. You can experiment with different kinds to find your favorite mix. Freshwater in your bong is best for your terpenes experience.
