Most cannabis consumers are familiar with two cannabinoids, which are THC and CBD, but few can name any other powerful elements that these plants can produce. This is mainly due to the fact that until recently, we believed that the majority of the power behind the plant came from those two cannabinoids alone, but as we delve further into everything that the species has to offer, we’ve discovered other, just as influential, cannabinoid compounds such as CBN (cannabinol).

What is CBN?

CBD is one cannabinoid that took us a while to notice because it comes in such minimal trace amounts across most species of cannabis, but its effects are so potent that they are comparable to those of THC. CBN can be found in very small quantities in some strains of cannabis and it seems to act as a mildly psychoactive cannabinoid in conjunction with THC to produce the full-body calm and euphoria that so many consumers experience when they get high.

How will it help you to sleep?

CBN in its raw form is called CBNA, but once it’s decarboxylated, a process that takes place when the cannabinoid is superheated during vaping, baking, or smoking, it turns into a power agent that has some incredible properties that are excellent for those who are having trouble with sleeping. This cannabinoid first helps by relaxing the consumer so that they can get comfortable in bed, and then after a while, it helps to lull them into a deep slumber that is nearly impossible to wake from, which results in an excellent night’s rest.

Though we don’t quite understand how well this cannabinoid works on its own just yet, we do know that it seems to work best in combination with other elements such as THC, CBD, or CBG to produce the incredible sedating effects that so many with sleep problems seek. It can be enough to help you to sleep through noise, or frequent waking occurrences, and to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.

Which is better CBD, CBN, or THC?

This is a question that some of the world's greatest scientists are working to uncover, but right now, we really aren’t entirely sure. All we do know is that strains that produce larger traces of CBN seem to offer the most effective relief from a variety of different kinds of sleep issues. So, for some, focusing on CBN alone might be enough to soothe what ails you, but for others, a more unique combination might be necessary to achieve the best results possible.

High CBN strains

Do you find that you wake up a lot during the night, or that you’re getting up in the morning and not feeling like you’ve rested enough? This is a common problem that can be attributed to regular everyday things such as stress, anxiety, or highly stimulating activity. It doesn’t take much to throw off our brains, but if you need a good night's sleep, and you’re looking for some relief, then one of these high CBN strains might be just the solution you need.
