Since most vapors are doing so as an alternative to smoking that is generally viewed as better for your health, it is alarming to learn of some of the newest findings which show incredibly high levels of lead in vape cartridges and coils that may lead to potential health issues down the road. If this is the first time that you have heard of this occurrence, then it might be time to educate yourself on what exactly was found, how it might affect you, and how to avoid it altogether in the future. Canada is expected to introduce a stricter set of regulations soon. In the meantime it’s up to us the consumers to make smart buying decisions.

A brand-new study conducted by Environmental Health Perspectives tested 55 different brands of e-cigarettes and vape pens that generate a vapor by heating a liquid to high temperatures with a metal coil. The goal was to see how much of the metals can transfer into the liquids after the heat had been applied. Hundreds of samples were collected both before and after use to test the number of impurities present that would be consumed by a vaper who uses these products. The results were astounding and concerning with over 10% of dispenser samples providing higher than what is safe levels of lead and arsenic. Their findings proved that e-cigarettes and vape pens are a potential exposure source of toxic metals including Pb, Ni, Mn, and Cr.

Where to buy safe vape pens and vape cartridges

So far, the only region to implement restrictions on vape pens and e-cigarettes is California who has officially set out a maximum allowable limit that their devices can leech into a juice and still pass inspection as a safe product. Luckily, the majority of large-scale manufacturers are already making changes to adhere to California’s policy, which will make their products safer all over the world. To avoid buying a vape pen or cartridge that has potentially toxic coils, it is best to stick to a well-known brand from a trusted vendor or vape shop. Since there is no certification within Canada to look for the best idea is to choose options that are available in California now that the laws have been changed. Another good tip is to avoid any products make internationally from places like China who do not have very strict regulations or guidelines on the export of these kinds of products. If you stick to an experienced brand with your vape pens, vape cartridges, and e-juices, than you likely won’t have to worry about this sort of contamination affecting you because of your habit.
