Ingredients

  • ¾ cup shea butter
  • ¼ cup hemp oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 5 drops of peppermint oil (optional)
  • 5 drops of tea tree oil

Tools

  • Glass mason jar with lid
  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric hand mixer
  • Mixing spoon

Directions

  1. Add the shea butter to your mixing bowl and stir the mixture until it reaches a soft consistency.

  2. Slowly add 1 or 2 drops of hemp oil and essential oil while thoroughly combining it with the shea butter using an electric mixer.

  3. Now, pour in the cornstarch and give your hemp lotion one final blend with the mixer until it reaches a smooth and chunk free texture.

  4. At this point, you can either add more thickening agent (cornstarch) or more oil until the hemp lotion reaches your desired consistency.

  5. Once you are satisfied with the way that your fresh batch of hemp oil feels on the skin, you can scoop it out of the bowl with a spoon and fill a resealable mason jar with it. Always remember to store your hemp lotion in a cool dark place to maintain freshness, and that it will stay fresh for up to 60 days after it’s made. It’s a good idea to label the jar with a use-by date so that you know when it’s time to discard and start fresh.
