Many American companies have shown an interest in expanding their product line to include cannabis infused products. This interest came as a result of the legalization of marijuana in many States. Also, there has been an increase in the use of marijuana across the nation.

One of many companies with an interest in CBD products is Mondelez. Mondelez International is a company based in Illinois, Chicago. The company is considering include CBD – infused cookies as well as other snacks to their product line. However, there may be a major setback to this initiative. CEO Dirk Van De Put stated that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations are not clear as it relates to marijuana edibles. As a result, he plans to wait until it is clearer before he markets cannabis infused edibles. The CEO expressed his hope that changes will be made to FDA regulations soon, within a few months. Due to pressure from Congress, the FDA is scheduled to attend public hearings in the coming months to discuss their prohibition on CBD infused items.

There is a prohibition placed by the FDA on the inclusion of CBD into food products for sale across the nation. This is one of the reasons CEO Van De Put is hesitant to launch into the CBD- infused market. CBD does not have psychoactive effects, and so it will not get an individual intoxicated. Regardless of this fact, Van De Put is still cautious about incorporating CBD with other products the company already offer.

Furthermore, the brand’s offered are family-oriented, and so the company is not ready to add CBD products to the list of products at present. This may be because not everyone in a family such as children will be able to consume CBD infused products.

President Trump, in signing the farm bill, has legalized many CBD products but not THC. He may be reluctant to legalized RHC because it causes people to get high. The Bill is not complete legalization of CBD in food. Although Walgreens and CVS can sell CBD infused beauty products in their stores. On the other hand, some states have legalized some products.

There are companies other than Mondelezthat has driven towards the cannabis business atmosphere. Carl Jr is one of the companies that have taken the bold move to launch CBD- infused food. The restaurant had a CBD- infused burger in Denver, Colorado. This is in aid of celebrating the growing culture of marijuana annually. Colorado was one of the first states to legalize cannabis. Cannabis was legalized in 2014. This may have been the reason for the launch of the CBD burger in that location. The burger was covered with cheese, pickled jalapenos and CBD-infused Dante Fe Sauce. It was sold for less than $5.

Patty Trevino, senior vice president of brand marketing, stated that the CBD-infused burger was a stunt at first. However, it may become a permanent product for Carl Jr depending on whether state to state regulations allow it. The product can be featured in states that have legalized cannabis for recreational purposes.

Furthermore, David Klein, the inventor of Jelly Belly plans to infuse CBD into candy under another brand. A small New York vegan restaurant has also recently launched a pop-up cafe called Feelz. This pop-up cafe included CBD infused edibles and lasted for two weeks.

Finally, there is a boom in the cannabis industry, and more American businesses are embracing CBD.
