What to expect after taking CBD oil

CBD oil and cannabidiol itself has been a relatively misunderstood component of cannabis. There are some rather significant differences between CBD oil and THC oil, and even more between CBD oil and other infused products such as CBD cream. Since CBD is used for medicinal purposes, it is essential that users of these products educate themselves on the various aspects of using them. That includes how long it will last, how long it will stay in your system and what the effects of CBD should feel like. Here, we will cover all of those and include CBD cream and its effects to give you an idea of the dramatic differences that are produced when using two completely different products that both utilize the same cannabis-derived component.

How long does it take for CBD oil to work?

The truth is that the answer will depend on many different factors. Much like any supplement, the effects of CBD can take a little while to feel like they are working. For our bodies to process CBD, it must be first introduced into the bloodstream which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 full hours to happen. From there the CBD oil makes its way to our endocannabinoid system where the CBD will bind with the receptors in our body that interact with it. Once it makes it to the receptors, the benefits will begin to be felt by the user. Now just how long this will take for you will depend on your tolerance, body weight, metabolism, and the method of ingestion you use, making it impossible to narrow down. However, we can tell you that the majority of people will have this happen within 20-30 minutes after taking it.

How long does CBD stay in your system?

CBD is a unique cannabinoid that lingers for almost, well, forever. Since it binds with the bodies fat cells after it has been absorbed, it can take quite a long time for most of the CBD to completely vacate the body. CBD is one of the only kinds of medication we are currently aware of that lingers so long, that users will eventually need smaller doses to maintain treatment in the future. That may sound a bit intimidating, but remember, CBD is not psychoactive, so it isn’t detrimental to have in your body. The majority of CBD will exit the body within 5 days after it has been ingested, with the rest lingering for months and sometimes even years afterward.

The effects of CBD are unique to each person and mainly based on tolerance, dosage, and the ailments that are being treated. It will also depend on the method of ingestion. Pure CBD oil that is eaten, smoked or vaped can take effect in as little as 30 minutes, with topical CBD oil treatments like CBD cream the benefits can take up to four hours to be felt. CBD will not have an intense feeling as it is working as products that contain THC. Instead, the user will slowly feel calmer, happier, and symptoms like nausea, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain will begin to fade as the CBD oil takes effect. Some people do not feel anything the very first time they use CBD oil. This is usually because they didn’t take a large enough dose, or they just haven't used it long enough to garner more long-term effects. Since CBD is an anti-inflammatory, it can sometimes take a week or more of treatment before the person notices any difference. How long they last will also depend on the individual, but on average users will see a difference for 12 or more hours after a dose.

Effects of CBD cream

Since taking CBD topically is the slowest method of absorption it may take a full two hours to feel any relief. The benefit of using topical treatments is that you can treat a direct source of pain. Unfortunately, this method isn’t a very goodoption for those seeking relief from symptoms that are not pain related, or pain that is not in one localized place. How long the effects of CBD cream will last will mostly depend on its strength, but it should continue to provide relief for up to four hours after it has been used.

CBD oil dosage

How much CBD oil you will need will depend on many different factors, but beginners should start with a low 50 mg or less CBD tincture, and use one drop three times per day for four days. If there are no noticeable positive effects, then up each dose by adding a drop of CBD oil. After four more days if you still see no improvement than adjust again by a single drop each time. This is the best way to gauge how much you will need without having to worry about taking too much. Not that CBD is in any way toxic, but it can make you a tad sleepy in larger doses.
