What is dry ice hash, AKA dry ice marijuana, dry ice THC extracted hash, or simply hashish?  Dry ice hash is the most effective and fastest method of making hash at home. It removes all of the precious cannabinoids and condenses them resulting in a pure high THC content crystal like hash that is formed in a matter of minutes rather than days.

How to make dry ice hash

Making hash with dry ice is not difficult and doesn’t even require any specialized equipment. To get started you will need a handful of items. You can either collect the end product and use it as is, or you can use a pollen press to make them into THC Cakes.

Method 1- Dry ice hash with pollen press

Tools/Materials

WW
  • 1-gallon bubble bags X 2
  • Safety gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • 1 hammer
  • 1 bucket (that your bubble bag will fit into)
  • 1 or 2 ounces of cannabis (the more you use, the more you will get)
  • Three pounds of dry ice pellets

Instructions

Step 1- Put your dried marijuana into your bucket.
Step 2- You will need to add your dry ice pellets. For every ounce of weed you use, you will need approximately 3-4 handfuls of dry ice pellets.
Step 3- Swirl the bucket in circular motions which will slowly mix the pellets and the weed. Do this for five minutes.
Step 4- Once finished, allow the materials a period to rest in the bucket for three minutes.
Step 5- Use one bubble bag to wrap around the top opening of the bucket.
Step 6- Shake the bucket up and down with the bubble bag attached for 4 minutes.
Step 7- Now push the bubble bag into an inverted position inside of the bucket and flip the bucket upside down over top of a clean surface. Shake it up and down just like a pepper shaker. You will see the THC crystals fall like snow to the surface.
Step 8- Continue shaking until you see no more powder escaping through the fine holes in the bubble bag.
Step 9- Use clean fingers to brush the bottom of the bag which will loosen any left behind crystal and use a flat scraping device like a debit card to collect the crystal into a pile. The crystals will appear amber in color and will easily be brushed together.
Step 10- Now you can add another 3 or 4 handfuls of dry ice pellets to your leftover plant matter still in the bucket. Use the larger filtered bubble bag to replace the first and do the same thing you did before. Mix, let settle, mix, shake, and collect. This will produce a slightly lower quality product than your first run did, but it will still be well worth the extra time to extract what’s left.

How to store dry ice hash

When considering how to store dry ice hash, you will want to keep a few things in mind. THC cannabinoids will always do better in a cool dark place with low humidity. A proper seal on a storage container is also essential to maintaining freshness and potency. To store dry hash, you can place it in an airtight, moisture resistant, and sealed container in a cool dark place as is, or you can press what you have collected into THC pucks using a pollen press. Much like medication heat and moisture are the enemy. Refrigeration or freezing is not necessary but is helpful when storing dry ice hash long term.
