If you are new to the cannabis industry than you might be wondering what all the buzz is about when it comes to marijuana edibles, drinks, and tinctures. For those who are more experienced with cannabinoids in concentrated forms, the benefits are undeniable, and there are more than a few reasons why that is. Marijuana plants naturally produce over 100 different cannabinoids, many of which can be beneficial for a person’s overall health when consumed. However today the primary focus is on harvesting two primary cannabinoids including THC and CBD. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive component that produces the euphoric sensations that a person's experiences after ingesting cannabis. CBD (cannabidiol) is mainly used as an anti-inflammatory but can also be beneficial to the high when used in conjunction with THC.

Technically tinctures, edibles, and drinks can be made using any kind of marijuana product to infuse the ingredients. Turning whatever, it’s added to into a medicated formula that is ready to consume. This makes them simple to alter or adjust to your own needs while masking the typical taste that follows marijuana edible additives, but those aren’t the only benefits to be achieved by using these concentrated versions instead of other alternatives. Here are eight reasons why cannabis drinks, edibles, and tinctures are worth the effort.

1. Long lasting

When you ingest cannabinoids orally, they are absorbed mainly through the stomach. Though rubbing oils directly into the bottom gum line will insert some of the elements into the bloodstream, most will eventually be processed by the liver. When you smoke marijuana, those cannabinoids are immediately absorbed through tiny blood vessels in the lung, but other methods of consumption take longer to process and longer to leave your system. A typical joint will have effects that last an average of 1-4 hours, where marijuana edibles and concentrates that are eaten can last anywhere from 4-12 hours before the results begin to fade.

2. More potent

Cannabis drinks, edibles, and tinctures are generally made using a concentrated form of pot, but even when they aren’t, it is a lot easier to add more significant amounts of dry decarboxylated herb to a recipe than it is to smoke that same amount. At that same time, marijuana edibles taste good and are much easier to consume in a short time. All of which will result in a much more potent high experienced by the consumer.

3. Better tasting

Especially for non-smokers, marijuana edibles are an easy good tasting alternative that settles better in the stomach and tastes much more appealing than smoking.

4. More intense high

Cannabis drinks, tinctures, and edibles are still a less understood section of the industry, but it is believed that the intensity of the high is due to how the cannabinoids are absorbed, and less focused on the amount ingested altogether. 5 milligrams of THC from a bowl of a bong will be much less effective than the same amount in a marijuana edible cookie.

5. Time released effect

As mentioned before, any type of cannabis product that is taken orally will take much longer to kick in than smoking them. This is because the process of absorption is slowed by the extra miles it must travel before making it to the bloodstream. As the cannabis elements pass through your system, the cannabinoids are very slowly absorbed which triggers a sort of time released effect. This can be especially helpful for patients who suffer from chronic pain symptoms that need 24-7 relief.

6. No carcinogens

A Lot of people are under the misconception that smoking marijuana is in no way harmful to one’s health. While there are absolutely no studies to date to imply that cannabis itself is a health issue, we do know that the majority of the papers that are used to smoke it and the burning of the plant matter does contain some carcinogens which can be cancer causing and hazardous to your health. With marijuana edibles, drinks, and tinctures there is no concern about adverse effects on your lungs.

7. Controlled dosing

Dosing can be a bit tricky to figure out when experimenting with marijuana tinctures and edibles, but if you have the option to purchase products from a consistent source, or the ability to experiment with your recipes it doesn’t take long to find a regimen that works for you. With dry herb, consistency is much more difficult to measure or achieve, but with edibles, you can neatly slice and pre measured doses for hassle free medicating anytime.

8. Discrete

Though tinctures do sometimes come paired with a faint scent thanks to the alcohol content, most cannabis drinks or edibles will have little to no smell or taste. This makes it easy to unwrap a delicious infused cube of chocolate at the office without alerting prying eyes to your self-medicating. It also means that once the edible has been consumed, no one will ever know that you had a special treat just for you.
