Explaining the Coronavirus to Your Kids - Dr. Ira Price

There is this thing in medicine, before every surgery or every resuscitation we take a moment. The first moment is ours. To breath, check our pulse, make sure we are doing the right thing and just chill for a moment. All while remaining hyper vigilant and primed.

We all do! We are all ready and primed for whatever comes next and next certainly will come. But the more chill we are the better prepared we will be.

Here are a few tips to help you especially around dealing with children.

  1. The good news is that kids remember experiences not words. so make it as fun as possible while keeping them safe.
  2. Kids aren't getting hit that hard by COVID-19. So if they have a cold, don't sweat it too much. Follow the protocols, call public health and just watch them. Most of them are just getting better.
  3. Talk to your kids about hand washing, and sneezing into their elbow... i mean we should be doing this anyways.
  4. Practice physical distancing... I've spoken about it, and i will say it every day. This is our hope right here! Our chance to make a difference.

Right now i am sitting outside the ER about to start my shift and wanted everyone to know that we will all get through this together because we are all in it together. Lets all play our part!
