Why you should be using THC with your CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) oils, tinctures, and other products have been widely recognized as having health benefits that come with absolutely no adverse side effects. With so many individuals suffering issues related to the medications they are prescribed by their doctor, it’s no wonder that thousands of people have found new hope and are either trying or considering the option of CBD products as either an alternative or an aid to their medical treatment plan. Since cannabidiol on its own will not cause any kind of stereotypical high, it is more appealing than THC to anyone who has no experience or some hesitation towards using cannabis, but is CBD the miracle cure-all medicine that we keep hearing about? How effective is it really when it’s being used on its own and are there benefits to be had from using THC in conjunction with CBD?

Chemical components and their effects

Most weed research has been based on THC for its intoxicating effects, but CBD has more recently achieved recognition for its medicinal properties. Both THC oil and CBD oil have been studied in depth for their efficacy when used both alone and combined to measure the benefits potential of each one for patients suffering from various health issues.

Cannabidiol (CBD)

CBD will not produce a euphoric intoxication but does have the ability to provide a rather direct and effective anti-inflammatory benefit when used topically, orally, smoked, or vaped. Cannabidiol can be helpful for conditions that are caused by the bodies response to inflammation like chronic pain, epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease, and Alzheimer’s. Ingesting this particular cannabinoid has also shown improvement in patients diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The effects of using CBD are for long term benefit and are not an immediate solution to debilitating symptoms as the component takes several hours for the human body to process fully.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

THCA is a naturally produced component of the cannabis plant. When it is heated or put through a process called decarboxylation, the THCA is converted into THC which produces the psychoactive characteristics so often associated with marijuana. Tetrahydrocannabinol will be felt by the user immediately, usually within 5 minutes or less of ingesting it and is an excellent pain reliever. THC is beneficial for many of the same reasons that CBD is, with the primary difference being its strong and fast acting capabilities. THC is often prescribed to those who suffer from a much broader range of diagnoses such as nausea, vomiting, anorexia, cachexia, movement disorders, spasticity, pain, chronic pain, glaucoma, epilepsy, asthma, insomnia, and is also given to cancer patients.

Combined

When taken together THC oil and CBD oil result in what is called a full spectrum oil. This is the most effective way to administer the cannabinoids to a person,  weed research conducted on the benefits of both were done using pure oils. Once the oils were provided to people in a uniformly mixed amount, the results were what is now called the “entourage effect”. When THC and CBD are used together, they act in conjunction with one another. The user still benefits from a high much it is much milder and long lasting due to the introduction of the CBD. When THC is used in combination with CBD in less even measurements the two will still act together. CBD creates a protective layer over the receptors that are located within the endocannabinoid system which protects them from any harsh reactions upon the introduction of THC.

Conclusion

While pure CBD oil is the healthiest and least side effect driven cannabinoid form, its benefits are mild and more long term. Many who suffer from pain will feel little to no immediate advantage from using CBD alone, and long-term the combination of the two makes for a much more effective treatment plan for them. Even those who are nervous about the effects of THC could be missing out on the perks of perfecting the entourage effect which will provide both instant and long term relief.  It is clear that both cannabinoids contain amazing qualities on their own, but the do work better and for so much longer when they are used together.
