  • Saucepan
  • Spoon
  • Waxed paper

  • Large mixing bowl

Instructions

  1. Start by placing a large saucepan on a burner and setting it to medium heat.

  2. Add the ¼ cup of cannabutter to the saucepan and wait for it to melt completely before moving on. Do not add the regular butter now, as it isn’t needed until you are ready to shape these rice crispy snacks.

  • Once the cannabutter is melted, it is time to pour in the marshmallows, and this can be done all at once.

  • As soon as the marshmallows hit that delightfully warmed cannabutter, they will begin to melt, but if you aren’t careful, they can burn and stick to one spot, which is why it is so important to frequently stir the two ingredients until they are melted and thoroughly combined in a smooth, creamy sauce.

  • Once the marshmallow cream is ready, turn off the burner, remove the saucepan from the heat, and pour the rice crispies into a large mixing bowl.

  • This is the ideal time to add your toppings to the rice crispies which in this case are mini chocolate chips and complementary colored M&Ms that are perfect for Valentine’s day.

  • Pour the melted marshmallow overtop of all the ingredients and use a large mixing spoon to fold them together carefully.

  • Now is where things can get crafty, and in the name of the holiday of love, we highly recommend shaping this crispy rice mixture into perfectly sized hearts, but you can use cookie cutters or your imagination to decide. However, don’t forget to thoroughly coat your hands or tools in butter to avoid sticking, as you will need to work quickly.

  • As you work, place each piece onto wax paper to set, and by the time you are done shaping them, the very first few will be ready to decorate with a tube or two of some fun colored icing. Write out a corny ‘I love you’ message, or just make up a simple design.

  • Finally, all of your rice crispy pieces are decorated, and now it’s time to toss them into the fridge for a few minutes to harden. Once you can touch the icing without smearing it, the pieces are ready to wrap and gifted.

  • Dosing

These Valentine's day gifts can make an extra special treat, but it’s important to pay attention to portion sizes so that no-one accidentally consumes too much cannabutter, especially if it’s their first time with edibles. This rice crispy recipe should make 24 individual pieces and one per person is the guideline recommendation to start.
