Breakfast they say is the most important meal of the day. Mornings are the best time of day to take in a boost of calories and proteins that will help to stimulate the mind and to get you going, but only if you start with the right ingredients. A sugary bowl of cereal or a couple of pop tarts might seem acceptable at first, but in no time, you’ll crash from the short-lived lift.

What you need, instead, is a healthy combination of ingredients that will provide necessary fuel, without the hard blow that processed sugars create, and for that, an excellent place to start is with a breakfast casserole. Now, some breakfast casserole recipe options are a whole lot of work, but most of us don’t have time to sacrifice from our busy schedules to spend too long cooking, which is why you’re going to want a lot more than healthy.

One of the biggest things to look for in a breakfast casserole recipe is speed and ease, and this particular one includes both, and with a twist. This isn’t your average everyday breakfast dish because it is highly infused with the help of some potent cannabutter.

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 1 hour

Calories: 258

Servings: 8

  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1-pound ground sausage
  • 20-ounce bag frozen hash browns
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 bell pepper (cored and chopped)
  • 1 cooking onion (diced)
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon cannabutter (softened)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Diced green onion (optional as garnish)

  • Large saucepan
  • Slotted spoon
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Microwave safe bowl
  • 9x9 baking dish
  • Aluminum foil

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  2. While you wait, get to cooking the ingredients. Start by browning the sausage in a saucepan over medium heat

  • Drain the grease from the sausage then dump the meat into a large mixing bowl.

  • Don’t rinse the saucepan, as you will need the residual grease to sauté the bell pepper and onion which you can add now. This usually takes around five minutes to complete.

  • Toss in the garlic and continue to cook the mixture together for another 2 minutes.

  • Once the garlic is fragrant, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the veggies to the bowl of sausage.

  • Now add the cheese, and hash browns to the bowl as well, and ensure that all of the ingredients are thoroughly combined with a good stir.

  • In a smaller bowl, add the eggs, pepper, milk, and salt and whisk them together until evenly blended.

  • Pour the liquid mixture over top of the sausage and hash browns and stir everything together.

  • Finally, it’s time to add the magic ingredient, but to do that, you will need to melt the cannabutter in the microwave until it liquefies well enough to drizzle over the casserole mixture.

  • Once it’s melted, add cannabutter to the bowl holding all of the breakfast casserole ingredients, then pour it all into a baking dish.

  • Cover the baking dish with a protective layer of aluminum foil, and then bake it in the oven for approximately 45 minutes.

  • Serve the finished breakfast casserole while it’s hot for the best taste and garnish each piece with a thin layer of fresh green onions for some extra flair.
