Tater tot casserole recipe
Most of us have a bag of frozen tater tots sitting away in the freezer, and if you don’t, then you might want to be prepared to be struck by a sudden urge to stock up once you taste this fantastic cannabis-infused meal. The best part is that if you don’t want to prepare several different dishes, tater tot casserole contains everything that’s needed for an entire meal so that it can be enjoyed on its own or as an easy side.
Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 1 hour 20 minutes
- 2 pounds frozen tater tots
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 oz grated cheddar cheese
- 4 oz grated Gruyere cheese
- 1 oz grated parmesan cheese
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 sweet onion (chopped)
- ¼ cup green onions (diced)
- 1 ½ tablespoon cannabis-infused olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 9x13 baking dish
- Large saucepan
- Silicone spatula
- Large bowl
Preheat the oven to 350 F and lightly grease your baking dish.
Heat the cannabis-infused olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, and once it’s hot toss in the onion and garlic, and then cook the combination of ingredients until the onions are translucent and soft, which should take between 3-5 minutes.
Now add the ground beef to the saucepan and use a spatula to break the meat up into pieces until the onion is thoroughly incorporated.
Cook the meat for between 10-15 minutes or until it browns and the garlic becomes fragrant.
Take a large bowl and in it combine the beef mixture, with half of the tater tots, all of the Gruyere cheese and half of the cheddar cheese.
Stir the ingredients well, and then transfer them into the pregreased baking dish.
Top the meat mixture with a layer of the remaining tater tots and then pop the whole thing into the oven to bake for 30 minutes.
Next, you’ll need to retrieve the steaming hot tater tot casserole from the oven. By this point, the top layer of the potato should be a nice golden brown, which is the perfect time to add the finishing touch, with a final layer of cheddar cheese followed by a sprinkle of the parmesan.
Put the casserole back into the oven to bake for another 20 minutes. Or until all of the cheese is melted and turning a light golden brown on top.
Slice the tater tots casserole into 4 portions and then garnish each piece with green onion before serving it.
