Sugar leaf infused butter recipes

What exactly is a sugar leaf? Those little leaves growing out of the bud are called sugar leaves. If you are wondering how to make weed butter with trim that is growing out of buds, look no further. The following recipe is a very basic sugar leaf-cannabutter recipe.


• 1 cup of spring water
• 1lb of organic unsalted butter
• 1oz. of your best high- quality hand-trimmed trim


• Kitchen stove
• Glass container with a lid
• Large thick rubber band
• Medium sized nonstick pot
• Rubber spatula
• Cheesecloth
• Baking sheet
• Aluminum foil

Now that we have assembled all that we will need for making our green butter. Let's move on to what I think is the most important stage.

Decarboxylate: this is to release the psychoactive and healing properties. We are making the cannabis stronger by doing this step. When finished the cannabis will be light brown.

  1. Preheat the oven to 215 F
  2. Spread your sugar leaf trim evenly on the baking sheet
  3. Cover your sugar trim with the aluminum foil, bake for 40 minutes

Take your non-stick pot and add your organic butter and your spring water to the cooking pot.

Turn your stove on low and simmer. The addition of the water is to prevent burning the butter, that is a definite no-no.


Your butter starts to melt, and you begin to add your sugar leaf trim that you have taken out of the oven.

Your job now is never to let the mixture boil. You will keep this mixture on low heat for three hours. Remember to stir occasionally with your spatula. You will remove from the heat after this time and allow it to cool to touch.

While your mixture is cooling, you can prepare your glass bowl and cheesecloth. Cover the bowl with a double layer of cheesecloth and secure it on the bowl with your rubber band. Carefully pour your butter mixture into the cheesecloth, this is the strainer to ensure no plant matter is in your butter. Discard the cheesecloth and the plant matter.

The next step is to harden our sugar leaf infused butter. Place your glass container in the fridge, this will make the butter and the water separate. When this separation is complete butter will be hard. Take your spatula and slide it down the side of the glass bowl. Your sugar leaf infused butter will pop out. The water in the glass bowl can now be discarded. Take your butter and store it in your container with a tight lid. Keep your sugar leaf butter in the fridge for all your cannabis-infused cooking needs.

An easy, safe method for making Green Butter

The recipe above uses 28 oz of sugar leaf trim, if you divide the butter into 28 cubes you will have 1 gram per cube, simple dosing. Remember that this recipe is potent and beginners to edibles should perhaps start with half a dose. TheIt is best when dosing for your edible, to go low and slow. Wait 45 minutes after your first dose before you take more. Most edibles require 45 minutes for effect to take place. If you follow this golden rule you will have an enjoyable time, be greedy not such a nice time.

Marijuana stem butter is butter made from the marijuana stem; this is great for those that like to utilize all of the plants. The recipe is the same as the above recipe, except there is no need for decarboxylating the stems. Grind the cannabis stems in the food processor. You will need at least ¾ of an ounce of the ground stem.

Be mindful that this butter will be less potent than your sugar leaf butter. There will be no strong psychoactive effects.
