Making peppermint THC gumdrops for Christmas
Christmas is nearly here, and this is the perfect time to try your hand at making some incredible edibles. Whether you’re looking for a simple gift idea that can be packaged with a cute little bow and gifted with style, or you need a sweet treat to keep in your candy bowl at home for when your closest friends and family come over, these peppermint gumdrops will fit the bill. Unlike most homemade candy with THC, this recipe is easy to follow and doesn’t require fancy thermometers, making it perfect for beginners.
How to make homemade gumdrops with THC
One of these spicy homemade gumdrops will always leave you craving more, but be careful because if you use a potent oil to make them, the results could be incredibly intense, so be sure to proceed with moderation. They are refreshing, delicious, and the perfect, more traditional peppermint flavour to celebrate the holidays!
Servings: 50 gumdrops
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
- ¾ cup of water
- ½ cup water (cold)
- 1-ounce unflavored gelatin
- 1 tablespoon THC oil
- ½ teaspoon peppermint flavouring
- ½ teaspoon citric acid
- Red and green food colouring
- Extra granulated sugar for coating
- Cooking spray
- 2 9x9 inch baking pans
- Parchment paper
- Small bowl
- Glass measuring cup
- Cookie cutters
- Large bowl
- Wax paper
Coat the baking pans with a layer of cooking spray and then follow it up with parchment paper lining.
Now add the gelatin and ½ cup of cold water to a small bowl, whisk them together, and then leave it for five minutes to dissolve the crystals.
Place a saucepan on a burner and add the sugar and ¾ cup of water to it, mixing and cooking the ingredients until the liquid reaches a boil.
Once the liquid is boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat, and pour its contents into a glass measuring cup.
Pour half of the mixture into one saucepan and the other half into another, placing the cold one on the slowly cooling burner for a little extra heat.
Add half of the gelatin mixture to each saucepan and whisk the ingredients together until the crystals dissolve completely.
Pour half of the cannabis oil into each batch of liquid homemade candy, and give them both another stir.
Put a few drops of red food colouring into one saucepan and a few drops of green in the other.
Use the whisk to incorporate the freshly added colour in one batch, and when you’re done, rinse it off to remove all of the food colourings so that it won’t taint your second mixture.
Take the clean whisk and stir the second colour into the mixture.
Pour each of the gumdrop liquids into one of the separately prepared pans, and then put them in the fridge overnight to harden.
The next morning, you’ll need a large clean surface that is coated with sugar to flip the sheets of gumdrop out of the pans, as it will keep them from sticking.
Use cookie cutters or a sharp knife to cut the gumdrops into shapes.
Toss all of the gumdrops into a large bowl with the granulated sugar, spin it all in circles until every piece is coated.
These delicious gumdrops will be easiest to eat at room temperature, but if you’re looking to store them long term, then it might be a safer option to keep them in an airtight container inside the fridge. If they get any warmer than room temperature, they will begin to melt, so keep that in mind as you decide where to put them.
