Weed Sugar Recipe
This recipe is simple and requires only a handful of tools you likely have in the kitchen already. To adjust the potency, you can add more or less cannabis, but the strength of this recipe is considered moderate as it is written so keep that in mind.
Ingredients
- 7 grams of dried cannabis
- 1 cup of alcohol (highest proof available)
- 1 cup of white granulated sugar
Tools
- oven
- 1 cookie sheet
- 1 sheet of parchment paper
- 1 large sealable jar
- 1 layer of cheesecloth
- 1 glass baking pan
- 1 grinder
- 1 elastic
- 1 bowl
- 1 mixing tool
Instructions
- Set your oven to 250F as you prepare your ingredients.
- Grind your dry herb using a grinder or scissors.
- Place a single layer of parchment paper over a cookie sheet.
- Spread the bud grind evenly over the parchment paper.
- Bake the bud in a preheated oven for 35 minutes. During this time the chemical THCA will be converted into THC which is what activates the psychoactive components you want in your sugar. This process is called decarboxylation.
- Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
- Lower the oven temperature to 200F.
- Dump the decarboxylated bud into a glass jar.
- Add alcohol to the jar and secure the lid shut.
- Give it a good shake and let it sit for five minutes before shaking it again. Continue to repeat this process until at least 20 minutes have passed.
- Now you will need to get your bowl ready as it is time to strain any plant material from the mixture.
- Place one piece of cheesecloth over the spout of the jar and fasten it with one elastic. Flip the jar upside down over the top of the bowl to collect the strained liquid.
- Once it has finished straining, you can remove the filter and squeeze it while holding any plant matter in the center, so that it doesn't run into the bowl. This will allow you to collect a few final drops of extract.
- Add the sugar to the bowl containing the infused alcohol. Mix until most of the sugar has dissolved.
- Pour the liquid into a glass baking dish and place in an oven where it should bake for approximately 30-40 minutes. This process may be longer or shorter depending on your oven. During the baking time, the liquid should be checked on every five minutes to prevent burning.
- Once all of the alcohol has evaporated, you will be left with cannabis-infused sugar that is ready to use.
- Empty sugar into an airtight container to store until you are prepared to use it. To maintain freshness and potency keep it in a cool dark space.
