How to make iced tea with cannabis
Most of us just buy iced tea from the store, but if you make it from scratch at home, then you’ll know every ingredient that goes into it, which gives you power over the sweetness and potency of each batch. Though technically you can use alternative cannabis products like distillate or tincture to quickly spike your iced tea, the former tends to gather in blobs as it cools leading to an uneven distribution of cannabinoids and the latter is well known for altering the taste of the juice. So, if you want the tastiest iced tea, and you’d like to make it happen with some fresh cannabis buds the old-fashioned way, then this recipe should deliver perfect results every single time.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Cooling: 30 minutes
Servings: 6 large glasses
- 8 cups of water
- 6 grams of decarboxylated cannabis flower
- 4-5 orange pekoe tea bags
- 4 tablespoons granulated sugar (more or less pending your preference for sweetness)
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest
- Large pot
- Weed grinder
- Small plate
- Small elastics
- Wooden spoon
Take the 6 grams of decarbed cannabis flower and toss it into a grinder so that you can pull it apart until it reaches a fine powder link consistency.
Dump the bud grind out onto a small plate and use your fingers to separate it into even amounts for however many teabags you’re using.
Use scissors to slice a small opening into the top of each of the teabags. Just enough that you can re-seal with a simple pinch of your fingers.
Place a pot onto the stove and add 8 cups of water to it before setting the burner to medium heat.
Now turn back to the teabags you have opened and use a teaspoon to stuff each one with an even portion of the cannabis grind.
Once they are filled, seal off the opening with some small clean rubber elastics as they are built to withstand the heat.
When the water reaches a rolling boil, add the tea bags to the mix and then turn the burner down until the liquid reaches a low simmer.
Leave the teabags to simmer for between 15 and 20 minutes to draw out as much of the THC or CBD as possible.
Once the mixture has finished steeping, use a wooden spoon to remove the tea bags, whisk the sugar and lemon zest into the mix, and then leave the liquid to cool away from the heat for 5 minutes.
Dump the iced tea into a large serving pitcher along with ½ cup of ice, and then leave it to cool in the fridge for at least 25 minutes before serving.
