It can be really hard to shop for the stoners in your life, especially if you have no idea what types of marijuana products they truly enjoy. The edible arrangement first appeared on the scene alongside the fanciest roses and décor, and the average, regular, every day, not infused version can run upwards of $300, depending on the amount and style that you choose.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford such exorbitant prices for a gift, but once you master how to make edibles arrangements for yourself, you can give gorgeous freshly made delights that impress all of the senses, with an extra special twist at a fraction of the cost. Here, you will find an easy step by step instructions on how to make edibles with fruit slices, and how to turn those pieces into fancy artwork.

How to make edibles arrangements out of fruit slices

Since we will only explain a few basic but beautiful designs, if you need some extra inspiration, then head over to Google and type in ‘edible arrangement near me’, where you will find a massive library of options that can be adjusted to create an entirely new look every single time.

Ingredients

  • Watermelon
  • Bananas
  • Chocolate
  • Strawberries
  • Cannabutter
  • Cannabis oil (coconut)

Other materials

  • Wooden skewers
  • Square chunk of Styrofoam
  • Vase (or another decorative base)
  • Hot glue sticks

Tools

  • Sharp knife
  • Spoon
  • Microwave safe bowl
  • Paring knife
  • BBQ sauce brush
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

  1. To begin, secure the base that you are using to hold the fruit edibles, as you don’t want to leave them lying around or it can ruin the smooth look as the chocolate hardens later. To do this, you will need to size up your container and do the best that you can to shave the Styrofoam down so that it fits snugly inside. Once you are satisfied with the fit, then apply a small amount of the superheated glue and work quickly to press it to the bottom of the vase. That will help to offer additional support, especially if you are making a larger edible arrangement.

  2. Now visualize something simple that you would like to accomplish for this next step. A heart shape in watermelon slices is an excellent starting point.

  3. Slice the watermelon in evenly measured pieces and lay them flat on a clean surface to carve away the peel and enough of the fruit to make a heart shape. Remember, there is no perfect way to do this, and your imagination is the only limit in this project. Try to make at least 3-5 hearts so that you have enough to make a bouquet.

  4. Pierce the tip of the skewers into the bottom point on the heart-shaped watermelon slices but be careful not to go all the way through, or they will sink all the way to the bottom.

  5. Peel anywhere from 1-3 bananas and cut them into larger chunks if you want to carve designs or smaller more decorative portions and arrange them on some of the skewers. They can rest below the watermelon, or on their own, parted by chucks of strawberries for an easy yet elegant look, or you can use your imagination to try to mold this masterpiece into greatness.

  6. Once you are satisfied with the edible arrangement and are done moving the fruit pieces, it is time to add the cannabis-infused goods that provide that extra special kick. Apply small amounts of cannabis oil to a barbeque sauce brush, and gently apply it to the fruit, focusing on the more exposed pieces of watermelon and banana, as it will help to preserve the freshness.

  7. When you are done, or if you decide to skip that step altogether, then you can move onto the fun part, chocolate dipping. Add ½ cup of chocolate for every 1 teaspoon of cannabutter to a bowl for the perfect combination that offers potency while still maintaining a crunchy outer shell. It can be liquified by placing it into the microwave on high in 30-second intervals until the mixture reaches a smooth enough consistency to dip the fruit chunks. This will require mixing at a fast work pace to accomplish as much as possible before the chocolate begins to set.

  8. Place each skewer as you dip them into the Styrofoam piece.

  9. The cannabis-infused edible arrangement will now need to be left for at least 1 hour to harden before gifting.

Tips

  • Always cover your working surface with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Be patient, have fun and don’t expect perfection the very first time.
  • Once your edible arrangement is complete, it isn’t going to last long when stored at room temperature or even while refrigerated, so it’s always a good idea to wait until right before you plan on gifting it, to make one.
  • Adjust the potency of these delicious edibles by adding more or less marijuana concentrates until you achieve the desired effects.
  • Always warn the recipient of edible arrangements about the food items containing cannabis before they dig in.
  • It is highly recommended to start with 1 or 2 pieces and slowly work your way up. As it can take up to 2 hours before the effects start to kick in, and edibles tend to be slightly more intense than other methods of ingestion.
