Appetizers are a dime a dozen but great ones that are sure to impress all of your guests are a bit more out of reach, especially if you want to do something different than your average Mozzarella sticks or French fries, and that’s where pizza rolls come in. They are amazingly clean finger foods, so no one even needs plates or forks and knives to dig in, and they’re absolutely delicious. Whether you’re looking to make a fun and filling meal, or a simple snack, pizza rolls are where it’s at!

Pizza rolls recipe

These homemade pizza rolls will hit the spot, and if you want to dress them up, that’s easy to do. This set of instructions only calls for pepperoni because that’s a general favourite of most pizza lovers, but you could make a meat-free, all vegetable option, play with the types of cheese, and so much more. Toss in a handful of diced sweet peppers or onion and top it all off with an extra pinch of Italian spice for some extra kick. How you enjoy it is entirely up to you, and it’s always good.

  • 12 packages active powder yeast

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer

Instructions

  2. Combine the flour, salt, and oil with the yeast, and then beat the mixture until it’s smooth.

WW
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F.

  • Sprinkle flour on a clean countertop or another hard surface and roll out the dough into 2 rectangle pizza crusts.

  • Add garlic salt to the dough, followed by the mozzarella, parmesan cheese and evenly spaced out pepperoni slices.

  • Start at the short ends and roll the dough until all of the toppings are neatly sealed inside and you’re left with a long tube.

  • Use a sharp knife to cut the tube into small 1-2 inch sections.

  • Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the second pizza crust.

  • Spread the pizza rolls out on a baking sheet, and then bake them in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust cooks, which happens when the outer layer turns a nice golden brown.

  • Serving/storage

Serve these pizza rolls while they’re piping hot and dipped in marinara sauce for a kick, or you can freeze them and save a batch for later. Of course, if the freezer will be the place where you keep them all, you might want to consider freezing them and sealed them with saran wrap before they’re baked, just so that you can get that soft, freshly baked crust texture.
