Cannabis-infused Thanksgiving stuffing recipe
Whether you like your holiday dressing baked in a dish until crispy or stuffed into a turkey to maintain moisture and richness, this stuffing recipe will work perfectly. There are so few side dishes that offer the softer and warmer comforts of home like a good old fashioned, from scratch stuffing that is jam-packed full of flavor. Unfortunately, if you don’t know where to start, dressing can end up bland, tasteless and soggy, but with a few simple pointers, your guests will be coming back for seconds at every meal.
Just remember to be careful with mixing, to provide the most even dosing possible, and if you are a brand new consumer, you might want to cut the infused cannabutter ingredient in half, with normal margarine or butter to reduce the potency to a level that is more suitable to a low tolerance. If you and your fellow guests have prior experience with marijuana edibles, then you might find that multiple servings are more ideal for the intensity of sensations that you are looking for, but it is always safer to start low and go slow.
Makes: 12 servings
Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes
- 12 cups of dry bread pieces
- 3 ½ cups of chicken broth
- 2/3 cup of cannabutter
- 3 celery stalks
- 2 cooking onions
- 2 teaspoons of parsley
- 1 teaspoon of poultry seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of spice mix (thyme, sage and rosemary)
- Mixing bowl
- Baking dish (or turkey to stuff)
Preheat the oven to 350°F and while you wait, add the cannabutter to a large saucepan over medium heat.
Once the cannabutter has melted, add the seasoning, spices and vegetables and sauté together until they are tender.
Pour the bread pieces into a large mixing bowl, and slowly pour the chicken broth over the top of the pile until it is soft, but not mushy. You may not use all of the broth, and that is ok, as long as all of the cubes are able to absorb some of the moisture.
Toss the bread pieces and broth together until all pieces have some moisture.
Slowly pour the melted butter and veggies into the bowl and gently mix everything together to avoid turning the bread to a mushy pile.
Now you can either add the stuffing mixture to a baking pan and cook it in the oven for 35-40 minutes or stuff a turkey full of the light and fluffy goodness shortly before the cooking time is up.
How long do edibles last?
This stuffing recipe calls for a fair amount of cannabutter that should easily provide 12 individual servings, and each portion will contain enough cannabis to induce a potent high that can last for up to12 hours after the initial ingestion. Hence the importance of starting with small portion size and waiting at least 2 hours to gauge the effects before deciding whether or not you need more, as an uncomfortable situation can last for prolonged periods in cases of overconsumption.
