A sinfully delicious crack chicken casserole recipe

Crack chicken is a dreamy combination of cream cheese, bacon, and chicken along with a few staple vegetables and a thick sauce. Of course, typically, this dish is served as whole pieces of meat, but the recipe that you’ll find below turns all of the same goodness into a really yummy chicken casserole.

You have to be careful with crack chicken because it’s high in calories and oh so addictive hence the name, but it’s more than worth taking a cheat day every once in a while. This sweet and tangy crack chicken casserole will have your mouth watering as the smell of it baking hits the air, and it’s really easy to toss together so just about anyone can make it.

  • 2 pounds of chicken breasts (cubed)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 can cream of chicken condensed soup
  • 3 cups elbow macaroni
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 cooking onion
  • 12 bacon slices (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons cannabutter
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons garlic (minced)
  • ½ tablespoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Topping ingredients

  • Cooked bacon
  • 1 cup shredded marble cheese
  • ¼ cup panko crumbs


  • Saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Spatula
  • Whisk
  • Large mixing bowl
  • 13x9 baking dish


  1. Add 2 teaspoons of regular butter to a saucepan and melt it over medium heat while you cook the pasta in a separate pot according to the directions.

  2. Evenly place the bacon pieces across the hot grease and cook them until they are crispy.

  3. Remove the saucepan from the burner and strain the grease from the bacon. Set the bacon aside for now.

  4. Put 2 tablespoons of the grease back into the pan along with the chicken, paprika, salt and pepper.

  • Stir the ingredients as you cook them over medium heat until they’re brown, and the juices run clear.

  • Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside for now.

  • Place the onion, sweet pepper, and garlic into the pan, and cook them for approximately 5 minutes, or until they are tender.

  • Remove the onions from the skillet, and set them aside for now, leaving the grease behind.

  • Add all of the remaining butter to the saucepan and set the burner to medium heat.

  • Slowly add in the flour, using a whisk to combine the ingredients as you go until it turns into a paste.

  • Gradually, add the milk to the mixture until it is completely incorporated.

  • Pour the condensed chicken soup into the sauce along with the cream cheese, and then whisk the ingredients together until they are all melted and thoroughly combined.

  • Dump all 3 cups of cheddar cheese into the mix right before you remove it from the heat and stir everything together until the cheese is evenly distributed throughout.

  • Add the cooked macaroni along with the chicken, vegetables and cheese to a large mixing bowl.

  • Stir the ingredients well before moving them to a 13x9 deep baking dish.

  • Sprinkle the cooked bacon pieces on top of the pasta mix along with the shredded marble cheese and breadcrumbs.

  • Bake the chicken casserole in the oven for 30 minutes.

  • This crack chicken is best when it’s hot and fresh out of the oven, so this is the perfect time to serve and enjoy.
