Niagara Falls has hosted some of the largest gatherings that Southwestern Ontario has seen since legalization, and this month will not disappoint local enthusiasts who are seeking something unique to do. The highlight event of November is the first annual Wine, Weed, and Whiskey Bonspiel which includes a combination of the elements (cannabis and alcohol) that few have experienced before. So, if you live in or plan on visiting the area near the end of November, you might want to get your hands on some tickets to this highly raved-about event.

What is a bonspiel?

Bonspiels are large curling tournaments that last for days and include several games. Though they were once traditionally an outdoor event, bonspiels moved indoors in the early 20th century. They are generally hosted as a social gathering to get like-minded individuals from the surrounding community to connect. Some are themed, while others remain simple, substance-free events, so it is important to seek out the finer details before choosing to attend one.

The first annual Wine Weed and Whiskey Bonspiel is due to take place in the heart of Southern Ontario, a region of Canada that is active with cannabis-focused and themed events.

What to expect: This year’s event is focused on bringing people from all areas. Many bonspiels include alcohol that is served to guests, but this one is unique. While you won’t find buds for sale here, you will find a friendly, welcoming, and inviting atmosphere towards stoners and drinkers alike. Included participants will get to play between 3-6 games over the course of 2 days filled with music and good times.

So feel free to enjoy the high from your substance of choice, or taste test the evenings away with some careful experimentation with crossfading, and show everyone who is in attendance, what you’ve got for skills on the ice while having the time of your life with your closest friends. Just remember that tickets are only available for both days, so if you cant attend both, you will still be charged full price, which is why taking a friend or three is highly recommended.

The best weed strains to bring to a bonspiel

Normally sports tournaments carry a more serious note, so it might be surprising to see a mixing of substances and gaming on the ice, but this special event is not intended to draw the most fierce competition, and instead caters to the average joe who likes to smoke the odd beer or enjoy a blunt on the weekends.

Since these are relatively active, social gatherings, it’s an excellent idea to arm yourself with weed strains that will help to increase chattiness, soothe strung-out nerves, and heightened your mood and motivation levels. To help get you started, here are a few invigorating strains that are perfect for social events:

  • Blue Diesel
  • Strawberry Romulan
  • Chocolope
  • Sour Lemon OG
  • California Orange
  • Blue Goo
  • White Russian
  • Pez
