Most cannabis users develop relationships, connections, and a solid history with certain vendors, which keeps us coming back for more every single week, but most wouldn’t know how to find weed if they suddenly found themselves in a brand-new place. Whether you’re making a big move to a different region or just vacationing somewhere that’s unfamiliar, it’ll be one of the first problems you face, and this struggle can make an already uncomfortable situation feel so much worse.

Your chances of scoring something good might seem low at first, especially if you’re in a place where cannabis laws don’t allow for legal sales, but it helps to remember that this is a problem stoners have dealt with for decades, and most eventually find what they’re looking for. The trick is knowing how to find weed using different tactics, some of which might seem unconventional by current standards.

With that said, we’ve got a few ideas that might help, and though none of them guarantees success, each new avenue you try will significantly increase your chances of getting connected sooner.

Ask the locals

One of the best ways to find weed is to ask, but it’s important to query the right people. You might not want to ask your new boss, or someone whose so close as an immediate neighbour, especially if you normally prefer to keep your consumption on the down-low. However, questioning strangers who are gathering for a smoke somewhere, bartenders, or pretty much anyone else who seems nonjudgmental is an excellent way to start.

Online forums

Normally, we wouldn’t recommend meeting people or buying things from individuals online over a local business. Still, if you’ve got little else for options, it can be a helpful way to connect with like-minded individuals who live in your area. Scrolling through Grasscity forums is a great way to get the word of your search out, and there are dozens of other alternatives out there that can all do the same thing.

Social media

Just like it is with online forums, it's important to tread the waters of social media carefully, and that is especially true on platforms such as Facebook, where posts that even remotely mention the herb are taken down as fast as they go up. Breaking community guidelines can even get you banned, which could be devastating if you’re using accounts that help to keep you connected with friends and family back home, so it’s important to proceed with caution if you go on the hunt here.

Be loud and proud

Even if you reside in a place where cannabis is legal, it just makes sense to be a little bit nervous about who you share that information with. There is still a looming taboo over the plant, and some will judge you harshly if they disagree with its use. Still, there is no denying that the best way to find weed and enthusiast friends is by openly displaying the fact that you love it. Some use flags or stickers, and others choose to indulge in public spaces to get the attention of passing folks who might have an inside scoop.

Look with your nose

How publicly you want to ask for weed is going to be heavily dependent on where it is you are, but one thing will never change and it’s the stench of the plant materials and concentrates when they burn, which can be easily detected with only a small amount of prior green exposure. A lot of people will want to stay discreet, so they might not approach you, and this is when the tables should turn as you seek out people who smell like cannabis because if they have some, they’ll know where the good stuff is at.

Mail order

Depending on where you are, this could be a dangerous or absolutely incredible idea, so it’s important to go over the local cannabis laws to find out. However, even in regions that don’t condone cannabis, it’s generally relatively easy to ship a package over borders. You could send yourself a package to arrive just after you do or enlist the help of a friend to hook you up. Alternatively, there are always online websites that offer trackable shipping options, so if you’ve got a credit or debit card, you’re covered.

Frequent 420 friendly spaces in person

Meeting people online isn’t a terrible idea, and some swear by this method of connection. Still, you’ll almost always find more reliable people in person, which is why visiting 420 friendly places, spaces, gatherings and events is a great way to find weed. Whether it’s a festival, conference, lounge, club, or some other green-loving atmosphere, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for by talking to people there.

Be patient

Once you’ve established a good system in the place you call home, it can be terrifying to be reduced to simply not knowing where your next bag of weed is going to come from but fear not. With a little bit of time, effort, and patience, your search will eventually pay off!
