The rise of coronavirus cases around the globe is continuing to multiply, and as they do, businesses everywhere are suffering from forced closures that are necessary to slow the spread of the highly contagious disease. Sales through some of the biggest corporations that deal in electronics, gaming, toys, and other non-essential products are declining at a rapid rate, as retailers race to offer online options for customers, but not everyone is adversely impacted by COVID-19.

Vice industries right across the board all over the world are reporting record numbers of sales that are quite competitive with those that we see around times of celebration like St Patty’s Day or Christmas. Even though the future is uncertain, many still feel the need to stock up on their favorite vices to satisfy any cravings that may arise during a lockdown when there isn’t really a whole lot else to do.

Vice definition

A vice can be almost anything that is soothing or enjoyable, as it’s often an action that is somewhat addictive as it provides a unique level of calm and boost in mood. However, most vices are paired with a negative connotation, such as coffee, wine, cannabis, or liquor. Vices are basically most of the things that we love that might not always be the best for our health, especially if we choose not to use them with moderation.

Which vice industries are benefitting the most?

The industries that seem to be experiencing the biggest uptick in sales are those that deal with cannabis products like bud or edibles, alcohol like beer and wine, and sex products like condoms, lubricants, and toys. However, the two that are benefitting the most are the cannabis industry and the liquor industry, with both reporting sales that are anywhere from 300% to 500% higher than average. Though bars and lounges are closed, people are still getting high one way or another through this pandemic.

Why people continue to order these products despite COVID-19

The truth is that everyone has their own reasons for wanting to pick up an order from their local weed shop. Some are needing to unwind as they process the uncertainty that is our future right now, and others truly need cannabis to treat a host of medical conditions, as it gives them a better quality of life, and helps to reduce stress and anxiety that goes along with living through such an unusual experience. Many people require a vice to get through the day, which is why cannabis has been deemed an essential service.

How to safely shop for vice products

If you want to buy yourself a big pack of edibles, or a fair-sized stash of weed to help get you through this thing, that’s ok, as it’s what these facilities are there for, but it is a good idea to try and reduce human contact as much as possible if you want to avoid getting sick. This is particularly true for cannabis enthusiasts with compromised immune systems, who are much more susceptible and at risk with a respiratory condition.

The best way to do that is to place all of your orders online, through a local dispensary, giving preference to those with fewer employees, as fewer people means less risk. It’s also a good idea to disinfect your packages and to wash your hands thoroughly when you get home or after touching deliveries, all the while avoiding touching your face as much as possible. If you follow these helpful tips and tricks, you can keep yourself safe while you indulge in your favorite vice.
