After you get high, it’s not uncommon to come down with a bad case of the munchies, and that’s when we tend to reach for high calories salt and sugar-filled treats because it’s just so easy to, but after so many times of doing that, you will be left feeling sluggish, and in some cases, gain unnecessary amounts of weight, so why not get ahead of it, before it becomes a habit, and plan out some incredibly healthy snacks instead.

High protein snacks

Protein is necessary for building muscle, and it helps to keep your energy levels up while you’re stoned, which is why high protein snacks are one of the most recommended groups to stick with. It will take much less to fill you up, and that full feeling will last so much longer, so they are well worth stocking up on whenever you get the chance.

1. Nuts

Peanuts, walnut, pecans, pistachios, almonds, and any other kind of nut you can think of can make great healthy snacks when you’re stoned because you can eat them slowly, making it feel like you’re stuffing your face all day when you’re really only eating a small handful at a time. You get bonus points if there's a shell because the extra work will slow you down and make it more difficult to overindulge.

2. Granola

Granola is a fantastic food all by itself, and that’s why hikers, bikers, and fitness gurus swear by it to keep them going, but it’s also excellent when combined with other healthy snacks like raisins, berries, or nuts. You can eat it by the handful dry or scoop it up with some milk just like cereal, and it will hit your craving for munchies while leaving you feeling good and energized.

3. Hard-boiled eggs

Eggs are a staple in many households, but we tend not to reach for them when we’re searching for snacks because they take time to cook, and we don’t always have the patience for that which is why we highly recommend cooking up a few, and keeping them in the fridge so that they’re easily accessible for when the hunger hits.

4. Energy bars

Energy bars are literally designed to pump you full of a whole bunch of good things at once that can help to keep you going throughout the day. They have protein, vitamins, minerals, and even a bit of sugar thrown in for flavor. So, if you’re looking for a perfect pre-packaged healthy snack, then this might be the best way to go.

5. Cheese and crackers

Whether you enjoy cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, blue cheese, or some other fancy combination, when you’re high, it’ll be one of the best things that you can take out. Pair some slices with a handful of healthy crackers, and you’ll be good to go for the entire day because it’s pretty much a meal that you don’t have to cook.

Low-calorie snacks

Low-calorie snacks are ideal for days where you don’t have to burn a whole lot of energy, but you still want to indulge in some food, and they can taste so much better than they usually do once you’ve got a buzz going on. So, if you’re concerned about gaining weight, or just want to make healthier diet choices, then this list should be perfect for you.

1. Fresh fruit

Apples, oranges, clementine’s, bananas, grapefruit, cherries, grapes, lemons, and pretty much every kind of melon or berry you can think of fit into this group. The tart and tangy scents and flavor can help to wake you up, and they provide an all-natural boost through easy to process sugars, so you can hit that sweet tooth while fueling up with some much-needed nutrients.

2. Vegetables

Vegetables are one of those food groups that scares some people. Especially if they are picky and have only a select few that they enjoy, but you don’t need to go veggie crazy to enjoy these healthy snacks. All you need is a small handful of carrots and dip, or some celery and cheese whiz, or whatever else that you may like, because these foods aren’t meant to be consumed in large quantities, but they sure do taste great.

3. Dry fruit

Most people cringe at the idea of dried out fruit pieces, but once you try the right kind, you’ll be hooked. They are sweet, chewy, and still contain all of the vitamins that fresh fruit does, only without the extra water content, which makes it a lot easier to consume the equivalent of a few apples or grapes in the blink of an eye. This energy-boosting food is great for stoners, and it lasts forever in storage, so it’s easy to keep on hand for when the mood to munch strikes the hardest.

4. Real fruit juice popsicles

It’s great to have healthy snacks ready to enjoy, but sometimes we also need the extra water, and in those situations, there is nothing that will taste or feel better than a fruit-filled popsicle. This way, you can get a good dose of fruit juice, alongside a hearty helping of real fruit chunks that can help to combat cottonmouth and the heat when the weather is warmer.

5. Frozen yogurt

Everyone loves regular old ice cream, but it is really high in calories, and you really don’t get much out of it unless you’re adding fresh toppings right before you eat it, but frozen yogurt is just as delicious, and it doesn’t come with all of that extra weight. So, if you’re craving ice cream, try out some frozen yogurt instead, as it won’t feel so heavy in your stomach, and it will leave you feeling refreshed.
