5 Ways to Give the gift of cannabis from a safe distance

These last few months have been a rollercoaster of emotions and actions. It’s been a stressful time that has been challenging for just about everyone. Parents were thrust into the nearly full-time role of educators, workers were laid off in droves and those that remain employed must adhere to special precautions like wearing a mask and staying 6 feet away from fellow employees. This isn’t something that any of us were expected to endure, but alas, here we are, and it’s forcing us to adapt to a brand-new reality.

Though much of the workforce is slowly returning to business, many are still laid off, struggling with reduced hours and pay or out of work entirely due to their businesses closing. These are trying times where large amounts of the population are silently suffering due to a sudden shutdown of the economy. We are hoping that things will eventually get better, as we watch closely for any news of progress towards a vaccine, but until we get there, we must still maintain a distance from others.

Of course, many are doing their best to return to as close to normal as is physically possible, and venturing out into the world while hoping for the best, but those with pre-existing conditions or who are immune-compromised are still concerned for their well-being, and officials are still telling us to maintain a household bubble of no more than 10, which means that we’re seeing a whole lot less of each other these days.

Luckily, we have made huge advances with technology that have allowed us to keep in touch with everyone that we care about without leaving home, but sometimes we want to do more, especially now that we have the extra time to come up with new and exciting gift ideas. Everyone could use a ‘pick me up’ right about now, so whether your stoner friends are medicinal consumers or recreational tokers, they’ll love to know that you’re thinking about them, even if you can’t visit in person.

Giving gifts is something that we typically do in person, but these days hosting an old fashioned stoner session is something that is shunned because there is far too much exchanging of germs when you’re sharing joints or bong rips, so it is important to take that into consideration when you decide how to deliver a gift of cannabis to the recipient.

Stoner gift ideas

If you like the idea of small gift packages to send your friends a ‘pick me up’, then we’ve got you covered, and here we tried to keep in mind the fact that many will need to ship their stoner gifts over great distances.

  • Bud (joints are easily contaminated and not preferred)
  • Jewelry
  • Homemade card
  • Moon rocket (made with pre-rolls)
  • Grinder
  • Moonrocks
  • Cannabis concentrates
  • Topicals
  • Small bongs or pipes
  • Gift cards
  • Vape cartridge
  • Rolling tray
  • Edibles
  • Rolling papers

How to send your stoner gifts

Once you’ve settled on what you’re going to send, you’ll need to figure out how to present it to the recipient. Normally, we’d do this by setting a date and visiting our friends over drinks or a meal, but if you’re putting off visiting in-person to keep yourself or someone else safe, then these are some excellent options that can help you.

1. Place an order and have it delivered

No matter what crazy gift ideas you settle on, chances are pretty good that you’ll find someone somewhere who will make and deliver it for a fee. This is a convenient hands-off approach that is perfect for those who struggle with having the time or creative skills to come up with something unique for each recipient, and you can typically browse the shop and pay for the purchase without ever having to leave home.

2. Mail it

This option isn’t always ideal if you want to send an old friend a big batch of pot brownies, unless you pay for priority shipping, as there is always a risk of damage somewhere along the way, and if it takes too long, the delicious goods will be stale before they arrive. However, if you’re shipping cannabis products or accessories that aren’t too heavy, then regular old mail will get it safely from your local dropbox to their front door.

3. Drop it into their mailbox

We might not want to go have tea with all of our friends at once but swinging by their porch is a perfectly safe thing to do. So if you want to bring by something personally to avoid the potential of damage or the delay and cost of delivery, then you can just leave it in their mailbox or on their porch when they aren’t expecting it.

4. Porch pickup

If your concern is for yourself or for someone else close to you that is immune-compromised, then you might not feel comfortable with leaving the house at all, and in that case, you’ll likely want to spend your time making something from scratch, or finding something meaningful to gift to your friends. In these instances, a great way to surprise your friends is by giving them a call and leaving a little surprise out on your porch for them to pick up.

5. Third-party delivery services

If both you and the person that you would like to send a gift to are housebound and ordering directly from a company where delivery isn’t possible, then one of the safest and most inexpensive options are third party delivery services, but they are only convenient for moving fragile packages over short distances. They are, however, more reliable over short distances, as you can be sure that your package won’t be kicking around a big mail truck for days before it arrives.

These are certainly some of the strangest times that we have ever seen, but we can still share some affection by spending this time coming up with ways to remind those that we love, that we haven't forgotten them even if we can’t see them in person for a little while. So why not do your part and brighten up some spirits by sending the gift of cannabis.
