What does cherried weed mean?
Cherried weed is also known as a weed or coal cherry, and these terms describe a lump of hot coal that is formed inside of a bowl, or at the end of a joint. You may have heard the weed slang cherry used in reference to the burning coal on the end of a cigarette, cigar, or joint, and the principal is the same. A lump of hot coal that provides a consistent burn which does not require additional heating to continue smoldering away.
Benefits of a cherry when smoking marijuana
1. Less need for lighters- When you no longer need to search for a lighter or inhale the fumes from one the taste and experience, in general, is enhanced. Cherried weed will keep a bowl burning until it’s gone so you can puff away with little effort needed.
2. Consistent and even heat- A consistent burn provides a much smoother draw and toke which makes it easier to consume more without being reduced to a coughing fit.
3. Cornering is more achievable- The method that is about to be explained to you below is called cornering, and it is often used when smoking weed to enhance to experience by improving on the flavors that each person received. This is useful when sharing bowls so that more than the first person gets some fresh green marijuana in every hit.
Negatives to cherried weed
There are so many benefits to cherrying a bowl of marijuana that the possible cons of using this method are rarely discussed. There are very few to speak of, but for some, a cherried bowl can mean a lot of wasted weed. If you are smoking alone, and don’t have the lung capacity to handle smoking the entire bowl of marijuana to yourself, then you will set it down to take a break, but the bud will continue to smoke away unhindered. If you leave it for too long and you may come back to a completely empty bowl that has burnt up into the air.
How to gain the benefits of cherried weed yourself
The best way to cherry a bowl is to use one of two methods and pack the bowl in a careful manner.
- Always grind the marijuana evenly and pack the bowl loser on the bottom while getting more packed near the top. This will allow for proper airflow and a tight area of grind for a coal bed.
- Methods of lighting
Lighter- A regular Bic lighter can be used by lighting just the edge of one corner of the bowl and puffing away to get a coal smoldering.
Hemp wick- Line any bong or weed pipe bowl with a hemp wick and light it from the exposed tip. It will burn down to the bottom of the bowl and help to form a coal since it will hold the heat.
