California is one of many US states where cannabis is legal for recreational use, but rules and regulations here vary greatly from neighbouring regions, so it’s important to take the time to brush up on local laws before you plan a visit.   • Consumers must be at least 21 years of age to purchase cannabis products from California dispensaries

  • It is illegal to drive when you’re high

  • An adult may possess just under an ounce (28.5 grams) of cannabis plant materials as well as 8 grams of concentrates or less

  • It is illegal to take cannabis from California dispensaries over state lines, even if you’re on your way to a neighbouring region where cannabis is legal

  • California dispensaries must be licensed by the state to sell cannabis products to the public

  • Cannabis dispensaries here have essential status, which means that they will stay open no matter what happens
