To those of us who just can't get enough of our cannabis products, it might sound like a strange idea to purposely get rid or dispose of these things we pay so much to enjoy, but there are more than enough situations where it's the best thing to do. Maybe you stocked up on some flower that you can't really enjoy smoking, or you don't have friends who partake to gift these unwanted extras to. Perhaps, you never indulged in the first place, and someone left these products behind, or you've confiscated them from a teen and just want to be rid of them.

No matter what the reason, there's nothing wrong with erasing these things from existence, but it's not as easy as tossing them into the trash. In the garbage, cannabis products could be discovered by children or pets, resulting in dire consequences, and that is why it helps to know where you can go to dispose of them properly. Much like prescription medications, cannabis goods should be handled with care every step of the way.

Fire

Most cannabis products can be burned, though if you're concerned about the potential effects from the smoke, it's best to steer clear because if you're burning THC products, there is always a potential for someone sitting too close to the flames to get high. It is also important to note that packaging should never be burned because it's toxic to the environment. However, high temperatures do destroy everything. So most things, including oil, flower, and edibles, can be disposed of this way.

Compost

Many cannabis products, including leftover infused dishes, can do wonders in the compost, adding nutrients and essential bacteria to the mix that will break down to eventually feed your flourishing gardens. Dry herb can be buried right in gardens for disposal, as it's not yet activated, therefore not at all a danger to local wildlife or pets.

Gifting

You might not know of anyone you could gift these unwanted cannabis products to, but did you know that gifting these things are an option and that doing so could make a positive difference in someone's life, in particular medical patients who can't always afford to keep a steady supply for relief. It might take a bit of research, but most major cities are home to trading or gifting networks, where the giftee even pays the shipping in exchange for the benefits this package has to offer.

Pharmacy

When you have a prescription medication that you no longer need or want, you're supposed to take it to the nearest pharmacy for proper disposal. Of course, many people don't, which is why we have so many pharmaceuticals leeching into our waters, but these places have access to facilities that are equipped to properly dispose of all things medicinal, including cannabis. Of course, not all pharmacies are comfortable with handling the task, so be sure to call ahead. Still, it's an excellent choice, especially if you reside in Canada, where things like flower are commonly prescribed and administered through pharmacies.

Amnesty box

When you've got nowhere else to turn, or you'd prefer to hand cannabis products over without having to interact with another human, then your best bet is likely your closest amnesty box, which can be found at most international airports near you. This might not be the most convenient option out there, but it does provide a safe avenue to simply drop any cannabis products off without having to handle them further or enduring an awkward conversation.

Police station

You should never call 911 to dispose of cannabis products, but most police stations will be more than happy to take them off your hands, and that is especially true when their being in your home makes you feel a little bit too uncomfortable. These officials have access to disposal services that are safe.

Dispensary

This option is not available in all countries and states, but it is a perfectly reasonable situation in areas where this service may be provided safely and legally. Of course, as a non-consumer, you might not feel the most comfortable heading into a venue for 420-friendly individuals, but they'll be friendly and helpful while facilitating a great way to solve your problem.
