How to make THC vape oil for an E-Cigarette or vape pen

Vaping is a trend that’s growing quickly, and with it, the demand for cannabis-infused vape products is at an all-time high. You only have the option of purchasing THC oil for a vape if you live in an area serviced by some of the few vendors that currently exist. If not, don’t worry, there are several homemade recipes available to you. You can even make these in your own home, and that will save you a small fortune. Even if you are able to purchase THC oil, the majority of companies currently manufacturing it on any large scale use toxic chemicals like propylene glycol which turns into a known cancer-causing agent called formaldehyde when heated. The 3 ways we are showing you today are long-term THC extraction, rosin extraction, and short-term THC extraction. They can be used by a vape or E cigarette.

#1 Rosin extraction method

The rosin method is the safest method of the three because it does not require any dangerous solvents to make. It is also the fastest method and allows you to use a range of other concentrates as your base such as BHO wax or shatter, which is convenient if you are not able to make or buy your own rosin. This method uses a hair straightener to press the rosin from a bud while using parchment paper to collect the rosin. The first time you try, it may seem a bit complicated, but once you figure it out, it really is the safest method out there.

Time to make: 10 minutes

Materials required:

  • 3 grams of Dry bud
  • 1 hair straightener
  • 1 small glass vial
  • Parchment paper (image of the Rosin method being done, small)
  • Lighter
  • Metal spoon or wand
  • 1 dropper bottle
  • 1 vape cartridge
  • 1 gram bottle of The Natural Terpene Solution
  • 1 syringe

Directions
Step 1 - Preheat hair straightener to 280 Fahrenheit.

Step 2 - Choose a bud (buds shouldn't be any wider than your finger for the best results.) wrap the bud in parchment paper and then press the bud with layers of paper between the metal plates of the straightener for approximately 10 seconds. Check to see if the rosin has gathered on the paper. If it hasn’t, press for another 10 seconds. You should have enough rosin that you can peel it off once cooled. It won’t be a lot. The goal amount is generally around 0.5-0.6 grams of resin once you have pressed all 3 grams.

Step 3 - Repeat step 1 until all buds have been pressed and you have gathered as much rosin as you can. After each bud is pressed, place that piece of parchment paper in the fridge and use a new one for every bud you press.

Step 4 - Remove the parchment paper from the fridge and peel the layers of rosin off the paper. This is
best done with a metal spoon or wand, as the rosin will stick to your fingers as it heats up from handling.

Step 5 - Once finished gathering the resin place it into a small glass jar.

Step 6 - Use the dropper bottle and add 8 drops of The Potion Terpene Solution to the rosin.

Step 7- Use a light to heat the jar for either 5 seconds or until the liquid begins to bubble and then mix the solution using a dabbing wand or a thin metal tool. Be careful not to burn it. Any longer than 5 seconds will burn the resin and ruin the taste of the oil.

Step 8 - Use a syringe to gather as much of it as possible and then add it to your e-cig or vape pen cartridge.

Step 9 - Enjoy!

#2 The long-term Vegetable Glycerin extraction method

This method uses vegetable glycerine to saturate the ground bud to extract the THC content. While this method isn’t usually preferred just because of the amount of time it requires to make, it is the easiest method on this list.

Time to make: 2 to 3 months

Materials required:

  • 3.5 grams of bud for every 30-60ml of juice you want to make
  • Concentrate such as shatter or wax if you wish to make the mix more potent. (not necessary)
  • USP food grade glycerine
  • Tin or aluminum foil
  • Oven
  • Rubber spatula (preferably one that is flexible)
  • Freezer
  • Cheesecloth
  • Stirring wand
  • Wire mesh strainer
  • Cookie/baking sheet
  • 2 glass jars, one with a sealablelid
  • Syringe

Directions
Step 1 - Preheat oven to 250 Fahrenheit

Step 2 - Pull apart bud with fingers or cut with scissors.

Step 3 - Use foil to cover a cookie/baking sheet.

Step 4 - Evenly spread bud over foil.

Step 5 - Decarboxylate bud by baking it on the cookie/baking sheet for 30 minutes.

Step 6 - Remove from oven and allow time to cool to room temperature.

Step 7 - Place buds into a glass jar with sealable lid and then add enough glycerine to saturate the ground bud. You want just enough to cover it. Filling the jar will only dilute the end product. Mix well and seal. Put the jar in a cool dark place for 30 days.

Step 8 - Remove jar from storage. Open and add one tablespoon of glycerine. Stir and reseal. Allow sittingfor another 30 days.

Step 9- At this point, most of the THC has been extracted from the bud. So if you wish you can finish now. If you would like to extract the maximum amount of THC possible, you can repeat step eight and then store it for an additional 30 days.

Step 10- Use a small wire or mesh strainer to cover a glass jar. The pour the solution into the strainer. Then take a rubber spatula and squeeze the plant material until all of the liquid is removed.

Step 11- Throw away plant material. Rinse your strainer and place cheesecloth over topof it. Rinse the original jar and placethe strainer with cheesecloth on top. Then pour the solution through the cheesecloth. This time squeezing the cheesecloth when
finished to collect all the liquid.

Step 12- It’s ready to use! You can use a syringe to add it to your vape pen cartridge or e-cig.

#3 The Short-term vegetable glycerin extraction method

This method is very similar to the long-term method, only with a much faster result. That is because instead of waiting you will add heat to speed up the process.

Time to make: 2 to 3 hours

Materials Required

  • Dry buds (3.5 grams or more)
  • USP food grade glycerine
  • One pot or burner safe glass dish
  • Vegetable or canola oil
  • Two cooking thermometers
  • Small mesh strainer
  • Cheesecloth
  • Stirring wand
  • Rubber spatula
  • Stovetop
  • Two glass jars (heat safe)

Directions
Step 1- Grind buds by hand or with scissors. When finished place ground bud into a glass jar.

Step 2 - Pour enough glycerine to coat the buds. You want a sticky mixture but not a watery one. Stir.

Step 3 - In either pot or glass burner safe pan pour vegetable oil or canola oil. You will want to leave enough room in the pan to set the jar in it without any chance of overflowing. Put pan and oil onto a burner and using a thermometer slowly heat the oil to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Then place the glass jar full of the mixed solution inside.

Step 4 - Use the second thermometer to try to maintain a temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you see both liquids are maintaining their individual temperatures allow the mixture to cook for 45 minutes.

Step 5 - Once the solution has cooked for 45 mins remove the glass jar and allow it to cool to a safe temperature to handle.

Step 6 - Place the fine mesh strainer over a clean jar and strain solution through it. Use a spatula to press any excess liquid from the bud and place the bud back in the pot.

Step 7- You have now completed your first and most potent batch of oil. Repeat steps 2-6 until you have completed three batches. Each batch will be slightly less potent than the last.

Step 8 - Use three layers of clean cheesecloth to cover your mesh strainer and place it over a new glass jar. Stain each batch of the solution through the strainerinto the jar. (You can use different jars to keep batchesseparate for various strengths.

Step 9 - Place glass jar back into the pan to heat again to 220 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.

Step 10 - Time to enjoy the fruits of your labors. Use a syringe to gather the extract and add it to your e-cigarette or pen.
