Learning how to roll is only half the battle. Figuring out how to make hemp wraps stick in a way that holds is a whole other thing that’s often easier said than done. It’s a common problem that plagues many enthusiasts, but it’s also easy enough to solve if you’ve got the tools, time, and patience to do it the right way.

Why it’s so hard

Hemp wraps, unlike your average rolling papers, don’t usually come with a handy dandy glue strip to keep it all together, and for that reason, it can be difficult getting one of these bad boys to stick. The absence of glue makes things tricky but not impossible.

Blunt wraps won’t stick? No Problem! We’ve got you covered with some of the best advice to help you get the job done.

1. Lick it

Licking a blunt wrap to stick is probably the most common way to go about twisting one up. However, a lot of people don’t realize that it doesn’t need much more moisture than a typical paper, even though it’s quite a bit thicker. Wetting the edge of a blunt wrap too much will have the opposite effect, making the roll slip, slide, and ultimately fall apart because it just can’t stick. Instead of slobbering all over the thing like it’s a sticky sponge, just lick it lightly, enough to dampen the edge and create a seal as the moisture dries.

2. Fruit juice

Saliva works in most situations, but it’s not exactly the most sanitary thing, and it certainly doesn’t add any extra stick. Fruit juice, on the other hand, just a few drops run along the seam in place of a glue strip, could be enough to hold the roll together with a bit more support. It’s not going to harden into cement, but it will add stickiness to the mix that won’t disappear once the paper is dry, and that’s a good thing. Due to bacteria, this probably shouldn’t be done with hemp wraps that are stored long term to smoke later. Still, in the moment, it can be an awesome solution to an age-old problem.

3. Concentrate

There's little else as sticky as cannabis concentrate, which is why it’s the perfect tool for the job, and unlike juice, using it to close a roll will not create a breeding ground for hazardous bacteria or mould. It’s a win, win, win situation, as, on top of a good seal, and minimal risk to health, you’ll also get a boost in effects.

4. Firm pressure

Papers stick instantly due to their glue and thinness, which makes shaping something like a joint so much easier to do, and a lot of people expect blunt wraps to behave in a similar way. You don’t have to maintain pressure on the seams because the process is flawless and instant, but you don’t get that with hemp wraps. With these rolls, you’ll want to add a small line of moisture to the edge and then firmly hold the wrap in place for a minute or two before letting go and hoping for the best.

5. Let it dry

Sometimes blunt wraps seem to stick well at first until they’re sparked up and abruptly fall apart or peel back, and most don’t realize that this could simply be the result of not waiting long enough for the wrap to dry. The seal you create with these consists of small bits of materials from within the hemp wraps, and it gets so much harder with time. Letting it sit also trains the wrap to stay resting in the same way, much like how folding a piece of paper will create a crease. So be patient and give your blunt wrap ample time to dry before trying to smoke it.
