How to make cannabis drinks at home
Cannabis beverages are a billion-dollar industry, with hot media coverage and what some might say is a little too high of a cost, but with a little direction, it’s not too difficult to make your very own at home. How you choose to do it will depend on the ingredients you have on hand, and we’re going to talk about the easiest methods so that you don’t have to sweat over the process of creating delicious and thirst-quenching cannabis drinks.
1. Weed tea
Cannabis tea is a popular infused option that’s widely enjoyed all over the world for medicine, recreation and spiritual guidance. To prepare, most know of the old way, which is to steep decarboxylated flower in a boiling hot cup of water long enough to draw out the powerful compounds. Luckily, there’s an easier way to do things now, like cannasugar or cannamilk, which can help to add flavour to your drink and are both easy to make at home. If that’s too complicated, then a bag of cannabis tea bags is also a stellar solution.
2. Cannabis cocktails
It’s not always recommended to mix alcohol with cannabis, but many experienced consumers enjoy this deep indulgence as it offers a powerful burst of effects that can complement each other quite nicely. If you’re up for the challenge, then a cannabis cocktail is an easy way to get the job done. All you need is a small dose of tincture, cannabis oil, or cannasugar to make almost any cocktail into a higher version of itself.
3. Green Kool-Aid (or any other instant juice)
Homemade juice is the absolute best! You can make it any way you like, adjust the sweetness accordingly and experiment with unique flavour combinations that you can’t just grab from a store shelf. When you decide to combine your favourite juices with cannabis, a whole other world of possibilities opens up. Go for cannasugar for the simplest solution and mix it right into your drink according to the instructions, or you could reach for a bottle of tincture and add a bit of alcohol to the mix.
4. Cannabinoid infused coffee
Cannabis and coffee offer the perfect combination of effects thanks to caffeine which is an upper that can help to reduce the grogginess that often follows smoking a joint, and it’s also one of the easiest beverages to make from scratch. Of course, you can always take the fastest route, which is to buy cannabis-infused coffee grounds, pods, or beans, but it’s much more affordable and fun to whip up some cannasugar or cannacream for this very special treat. Alternatively, a good old shot of RSO or cannabis-infused coconut will do the trick in an instant.
5. Weed soda
Cannabis drinks can be smooth, fruity, and creamy or they can be fizzy like soda as long as you’ve got the tools on hand to complete the task. In this case, you’ll need a soda stream or some equivalent piece of equipment to make the sticky carbonated base, and what you add from there is entirely up to you. Of course, you might not want to add more sugar to this already sugary beverage, instead, a better option would be to add some cannabis-infused coconut oil or a shot of tincture to the glass once it’s done.
You might have noticed we left out two of the most commonly used cannabis products to infuse drinks, and that’s for a very good reason because they don’t mix reliably with cold liquids as they won’t melt, and they tend to impact taste significantly. Of course, you could try to make them work and feel like you’ve had success, but we only recommend the most enjoyable and reliably performing ways of doing things.
