How to make a homemade bubbler pipe
When it comes to DIY pipe ideas, no design is a bad one, as long as it gets the job done, but if you’re looking for something that offers a slightly more exciting experience than an apple pipe, then the homemade bubbler is where it’s at. These powerful little pieces work in combination with water to produce a smooth, cool hit each time, but store-bought versions tend to be fragile, expensive, and break a lot, which is why it pays to know how to make your own.
The steps and materials you’ll need to build a homemade bubbler pipe

All of the parts you’ll need to build a bubbler pipe according to our directions are cheap, basic, effective, but short term. Instead of a pill bottle, you could use a small clean glass perfume container or something else that will hold up to use and abuse, but if you’re in a bind, these simple instructions will get you through.

- 6 mm reusable metal drinking straw
- Marker
- Weed

- Food grade sealant
- Metal socket
- Hack saw
- Pipe screen
- Lighter
- Sandpaper

First things first, as you’ll want to ensure that there are no remaining medicines in the pill bottle or funk in the straw, so give everything a good wash using either dish soap or vinegar diluted with warm water. Then you’ll need to rinse it and get it dry for this next part to work properly, so pat down each piece with a paper towel and blow through the straw until there are no traces of soapy or sour cleaner.

Use a lighter to burn a hole into the top of the pill bottle that is large enough to fit the metal straw snugly, and then push the piece through the lid and screw it onto the bottom so that you can measure the perfect length for the stem. You’ll want it to rest near, but not against the bottom of the bottle, and it should protrude from the lip by at least an inch or two.
Take the saw to trim the metal straw down to size and then install the bowl by attaching the socket to the tip of it. Now you’ll need to seal everything up except for the bottle seal for the lid using food-grade sealant so that there are no air leaks around the straw or where the socket and straw greet and then leave it for long enough to dry and harden before moving on.
Install the screen as snugly as you can, and then using a lighter to burn another 6mm hole just below the lip of the pill bottle. This is where you’ll need to use the bit of straw that was cut away earlier to create a mouthpiece. To do that, just push the straw into the hole approximately 5-7mm into the bottle and then seal up any edges with food-grade sealant.
Since we used a hacksaw for the straw, you’re going to want to smooth out any sharp edges so that no one gets cut with a piece of and paper, and once that’s done, you can fill the DIY pipe ¾ of the way with water.
Your bubbler pipe is now ready to pack, light, and enjoy with all of your favourite strains.
